And now, Sunday. Your LAST chance to throw yourself into Perth Poetry Festival 2026.

But it's not over. There are more extraordinary events, an absolutely electric day of poetry ahead, Sunday

4:30–5:30 pm · POETRY IN THE AGE OF AI

7:30–9:30 pm · THE FINALE
The Jonesway Theatre. The WA Poets Micro-Residency Showcase. One final night together.

LAST WORKSHOP · 3 SPOTS LEFT
11:30 am–1:30 pm · POETRY FOR THE SEASON

This is it. The last day. The last rooms. The last poems of an incredible Festival weekend.

SATURDAY IS GOING TO BE BIG.
Perth Poetry Festival rolls straight into another full day tomorrow, and the energy is already building.

The Saturday workshops are now FULL, and Perth Poetry Club is bound to be packed, with readings from some of the festival’s featured poets.

But that's just for starters. The real show is what comes next.

5:00–6:30 pm · GRAINS OF SAND
A rich gathering of poetry across cultures, languages, places and lived experience. Feel poetry as lingua franca: sensory, aural, textural, flowing, a shared human experience.

7:00–9:00 pm · SATURDAY NIGHT POETS
Young Poets open the night, followed by a brilliant line-up of festival voices taking us right through to Saturday night. And ending with the mind blowing premier of Grey Maali.

There are still some tickets left for the evening events, so if you’ve been wondering when to jump into the festival, this is the day.

Readings. Featured poets. New voices. A library full of poetry from afternoon into night.

🎉 2026 Poetry d’Amour Shortlist Announced
We’re delighted to share the 2026 Poetry d’Amour Shortlist and to finally reveal this year’s judge, Deanne Leber.

Deanne had the formidable task of reading and considering more than 500 poems. And really, how do you judge a love poem? Each carries its own private world, its own history, tenderness, grief, longing, humour or small epic of the heart.

Our enormous thanks to Deanne for making her way through them all with such care, returning and rereading, weighing one extraordinary poem against another, and somehow arriving at a final **nine**. Yes,, the judging produced one small anomaly this year. We usually award up to three Highly Commended places, but Deanne’s insisted that we award four poems the 'Highly Commended recognition' in 2026.

Congratulations to our nine shortlisted poets:

The final awards will be revealed tonight at WA Poets Presents / Awards Night tonight as part of the Perth Poetry Festival.

🎉 2026 Ros Spencer Poetry Prize Shortlist Announced

This year was an especially difficult one to judge, with over 500 poems in contention and an extraordinary amount of careful consideration, re-reading and reconsideration before the final selections were made.

The decisions were so close that this year we have made a small exception and will recognise four Commended poems instead of the usual three.

Congratulations to all nine poets on the 2026 shortlist. 💙

We’re looking forward to celebrating the shortlisted poets, hearing their work, and revealing the final results tomorrow night at WA Poets Presents, as part of Perth Poetry Festival 2026.

See you there! Or online!🎙️✨
