On 17 May, WiTWA Chair Janie Plant, mentored at the latest instalment of the Perth Girls Programming Network (GPN) workshops.

Held at The University of Western Australia, the free event is a full-day workshop where high school girls and gender minorities learn how to code using Python.

With over 120+ students, tutors and helpers, the day was all about fun, friendships and meeting others who like to code.

On the day, Janie participated in the after lunch Mentor Hangz Career Chatz session where she spent just over an hour sharing her career journey with students in Years 9-12. The session panel also featured other local tech [+] mentors like Natasha Hurley-Walker, Kaylee Molin, Olivia van der Kroon, Louisa Leung, and Dr. Tania Hidalgo.

WiTWA is proud to participate in an event focused on fostering the talents of the next generation of women interested in tech [+].

We’re excited to announce Rajes Selvanathan as our newest WiTWA Board Member who will be responsible for the organization’s Growth & Sustainability.

Rajes is a results‑driven senior risk management leader with a 15‑year career spanning enterprise risk management, compliance and strategic transformation. She has led high‑impact risk uplift programs across the financial services sector, strengthening risk culture, regulatory compliance and organisational resilience.

Her experience extends across consulting, advisory and training throughout the ANZ and EMEA regions, backed by a strong track record in leading teams, delivering complex regulatory change and driving strategic initiatives that enable confident, sustainable business outcomes.

Rajes is currently leading the Business Risk & Compliance arm at RAC Insurance. In this role, she provides specialist risk advice and guides major strategic risk and regulatory initiatives across the organisation.

Rajes is also deeply committed to advancing women in technology and actively supports WiTWA’s mission to elevate representation, voice and opportunity.

Within WiTWA, she plays a key role in driving growth, strengthening governance and supporting the organisation’s long‑term sustainability.
