📣 Attention WA Lure Coursing Participants – New Rules Now Live!

The updated ANKC Lure Coursing Rule Book, incorporating all changes approved by the Dogs Australia Board, is now available on the Dogs Australia website.

https://dogsaustralia.org.au/media/10402/8-da-lure-coursing-rules-01-01-26.pdf

We encourage everyone to take some time to read through the new document, and to help you get started, here are answers to a few common questions:

🟦 If you run your dog in Coursing Ability…

Coursing Ability has now been renamed Lure Pursuit!

Here’s what’s changing (and what’s not):
• The name has changed, but all existing title requirements remain exactly the same.
• A brand-new Champion title becomes available from 1 January 2026 (see section 7.2e in the rules).
• Clubs may now choose to set courses 500m or longer for Lure Pursuit. Your maximum course length hasn’t changed.

🟩 If you run a dog in the Sighthound stream…

• Judges now have clearer guidance on how to assess runs.
• No changes have been made to your titles or classes.
• Reminder: From 1 January 2026, dogs competing in Open and Field Champion must be muzzled under the rules introduced in the 2025 revision.

🟨 Judges – what’s new for you?

• Please review the revised Section 10.4 covering judging requirements.
• Scoring and title requirements remain the same, except for the addition of the new Lure Pursuit Champion title.

🟪 Trial Secretaries – key updates:

• Both qualification certificates have been updated and will be available from your Member Body in 2025.
• The new Lure Pursuit Champion title is not a class.
• Dogs who have earned this title will compete in the Lure Pursuit Masters Class.

🟧 Do clubs have to set a 500m course for Lure Pursuit?

No. Clubs may choose any course length up to the existing 1000m maximum.

If you have further questions after reading the rule book, feel free to reach out — we know change brings queries, and we’re here to help.

I am very excited for the 2026 season and watching the dogs tear up the field.

Regards,
Danielle Simpson

💥💥 FINAL CALL FOR WHIPPET CLUB OF WA ALL BREEDS LC - ROSA GLEN ENTRIES!!💥

Entries will be closed off on showmanager for both days tonight at 7pm as committee need to finalise and print before travelling down to set up for these events.

Please double check your dogs are in their correct classes that that are currently eligible for and you have updated any of their titles.

🐾For those entrants with dogs that may be eligible to upgrade to the next class after the Saturday trial, the club will accommodate this provided you have advised us of this possibility PRIOR to entry close off in the memos section of your entries. This is so we can prepare for possible changes in advance as run sheets take time. You will also be given instructions from the club secretary of what you need to send us as proof of eligibility. We are doing this as a courtesy to our entrants so please respect our time and get your memos in now.

🐾 If you are handling each others dogs or you have dogs not necessarily in your name- put this information in the entry memo stating the dogs affected so that we can do our best to split you up. This information should be provided every time there is an event as it may not be the same persons working on the run order.

Saturday Run sheet will go up later this week along with the pre-briefing , Sunday run sheets will go up as soon as possible after the Saturday trial.

Graham Black will be our official photographer for this weekend- please support him where possible for giving up his time on field all day to capture these moments for your dogs. For this reason, no other photography or video is to occur on this private field during the event.
Personal photographs of you and your dogs with the judge are acceptable after the event.
Graham will post a link to your images on the club page as soon as they are ready.

A reminder also to you all that you are at a private field that we have generously been given access to by Big Valley Campsite. Please be respectful of the grounds and conduct yourselves over the weekend at this venue in a manner that promotes our sport and Dogs Australia in a positive and encouraging way so we can continue to have access to them but also grow our sport as there is likely to be other campers that will come down to watch and may ask questions.

…. get those final entries, changes & memos in!!

💥A reminder that entries close for both events on Showmanager Monday 15th September 10am.

🐾 MULTIPLE DOGS/ SHARING HANDLER
Where possible we will split you up but we need to know the dogs affected. Please add this information to the memos with your entries.

🐾 AMENDMENTS
Class upgrades will only be accepted for the Sunday event and you must have a request in place PRIOR to close of entries via the memos section of your entry stating the dog /s and classes.

Specifically for QC- your dog is only eligible to enter a QC AFTER they have received their second pass and you lodged for a JC title. If you do this, you can choose to :
A) Amend your Sunday JC entry to Singles OR the QC.
B.) If you want the opportunity to do Singles AND the QC you must ENTER BOTH PRIOR to close of entry. We have a reduced entry option for QC as an additional entry specifically for this but you will only be excluded from the catalogue and forfeit the QC entry if you are ineligible.

🐾 ENTRANTS RESPONSIBILITY
It is solely you - as the entrant that is responsible for ensuring your dog is eligible for the class entered and up to you to ensure you are in compliance with the rules & regulations at all times which you agree to each time you enter any official event and to update your dogs details, titles and classes
Read the schedule in full and refer to current Dogs Australia rules & regs PRIOR to entering so you are clear on how these will be run and what is required of you. Anything missed/ not included that you need clarification on, don’t assume- contact the club only via methods stated in the schedule well in advance to close of entries so there’s time to answer you and you can make an informed choice to enter or not.

🐾For those who titled over last weekend (Congratulations!🎉)
- as soon as you have your certificates please lodge for your titles with the office and ONLY THEN, enter the class appropriate.
If you have already entered you can edit your existing entries easily- remember to do this for BOTH event dates as they are not linked and check it is correct for each dog afterwards. Please also update your dogs titles so they are current. It’s a good idea to add a memo in your entry if close is coming up and still not processed so the Secretary knows your dog is eligible.

🏵️💳 Rosette/Voucher Sponsorship helps contribute towards the cost of events including associated costs in contracting interstate judges. You can choose to do it as an individual or several of you chipping in as a group, it all helps so if you are able to contribute in this way - it is greatly appreciated and you will be acknowledged in the catalogue.

🐾Puppy/try out runs will also be offered on the Saturday only with limited slots available-

Dogs are allowed on-lead around the park as there are free range chickens 🐓and Guinea Pigs 🐹 at checkin but they have a grassed large fenced free run area especially for dogs to exercise them during your stay. There is a communal kitchen area for campers that don’t have cooking/ refrigeration/seating facilities so that you can cook/bbq and eat as a group it has a communal fire pit as well as individual ones and yes- hot showers and clean toilets. It is set in a clearing amongst the beautiful forest with rolling hills as a backdrop in the heart of the Margaret River Wine region so extend your stay if you have time to explore these, The Berry Farm, and yes … the Margaret River Chocolate Factory 🍫🍫🤣. For surfers and those who love the coast- Gracetown is nearby along with many other beautiful beaches- home of the Margaret River Classic on the International Surf circuit.

We are still seeking 10 dogs for this event. Please support our aspirant judges. If the class you want to enter is “full” please enter another eligible class or send us a message.

The Lure Coursing Working Party is currently seeking the help of our wonderful community. On Saturday the 23rd August we will be holding a Mock Trial as part of the training of Lure Coursing Judging and Lure Operators. This means we need some dogs to go out and do what they love best so our trainees can judge and drive for them.

WHAT IS A MOCK TRIAL?
A mock trial is an event that works the same as an ordinary trial in regards to rules, but as it isn't a sanctioned event there are no qualification cards given. Any "passes" at a mock trial do not go towards your titles, but your dog has a great day on the field. Please note this is not a training day, your dog will be judged like a regular trial.

HOW IT WORKS:
There will be a very small entry fee to cover the ground hire fee for the day. Entries are available through Top Dog Events, note there is a cap of 30 dogs for this event.
When entering you will find that the classes are limited to the following:
JC CA and Sighthound
Coursing Ability
Open
Singles
Pick what suits your dog best, if you run in CAX usually select Coursing Ability, if you run in Field Champion select Open. If you have a JC dog but the class is full you can select Singles or CA depending if you have a sighthound or not. We just want to see the event full if possible.
