The WABA community have voted on the Top 7 Games That Make You Laugh - here are the results!

1. Galaxy Trucker / Galaxy Trucker (2nd Ed) (Hilarious watching your ship fall apart - Mark)
2. Spyfall / Spyfall 2 (The funniest for trying to bluff that you know what you're doing - Adrian)
3. Take 5 / 6 nimmt! 25 Jahre (It's pretty funny when someone has to pick up horrible row of cards - Ryan)
4. Hot Streak (I'd never imagine caring so much whether a mascot would run off the back of the track - Ernest)
5. That Time You Killed Me (A legendarily witty rulebook - Lucas)
6. Ugg-Tect (Hilarity as people try to communicate nuance with clubs and limited nonsense words - Alicia)
7. Schadenfreude (The joy of seeing someone win a trick or lead on the scoreboard, except the object of this game is to be second - Jon)

Our guest Top 7 comes from WABA member Peter
1. Deep Sea Adventure - The dice can be fickle and seem to like punishing overconfidence
2. Magical Athlete - Lots of chaos as the myriad racers’ powers interact with each other
3. Ticket to Ride - You have to laugh at your own misfortune when you’re holding a massive hand of cards and still can’t draw the one you need
4. Just One - The probability of getting duplicate clues seems to be proportional to the effort you put into avoiding them
5. CrossTalk - Trying to help your team but not the other can lead you on wild tangents
6. Letter Jam - Depending on the group the limited pool of letters can lead to some interesting words
7. Deception: Murder in Hong Kong - The clue giver’s reasoning can sometimes be a bit questionable

Thanks to everyone who contributed!

The start of the new financial year means that it is membership renewal time! All WABA members at 30 September 2026, both new and renewing, will go in a draw to win a $200 voucher from Tactics!

If you want to become a WABA member, you can apply to join in person at either the Mt Claremont or Willetton meets.

If you were a WABA member during 2025/26, you have been sent an email about how to renew your membership (please check your junk or spam folders). This includes an option for you to be able to pay your membership and entry fees for all monthly WABA meets for the financial year.

Membership is only $5 and includes:
-you having a say about how WABA is run;
-discounts at our sponsors Tactics in Barrack St (Perth CBD), Good Games Cannington, Good Games Morley, Good Games North (Joondalup);
-an improved chance at winning the door prize at our meets; and
-free entry to D-Con/Decembacon, our December Mt Claremont meet and our largest event of the year.

Thank you to those who financially support WABA, and we look forward to many more great games over many months!

You can now find WABA on Aftergame. We're trialling it for now and will see how much use it does or doesn't receive. It's not replacing any of our other outlets, such as BGG, Meetup or FB. It will be in addition to those. Some of you are probably already using this app but, for those that aren't, you can find download links and information here: https://www.aftergame.co/

The app is free and can be used worldwide to find game groups and events in whatever location you're interested. (Might be handy if you're on holiday somewhere and hoping to fit in a gaming session or two!)

Our events will be listed there and, when people in Perth look for events happening near their location, WABA will be one of the options.

Instead of just seeing that a game day is happening though, you can use the app to:

- View all of our upcoming club events.
- RSVP to events.
- Create or join game sessions within an event.
- Suggest games you'd like to play or see what other people are planning to bring.
- Chat and coordinate with other attendees so tables can be organised ahead of time.
- Add your game collection and played games to your profile.

Where we can see it being useful is as a game planning tool.

For example, if someone wants to play Ark Nova, they can create a game session in the WABA event and specify the time and number of players. Other members can join that session before the day, so everyone knows the game is happening. If a table fills up, people can organise another game or join a different session.

This means you can arrive knowing there's already a group interested in playing the games you want to play, rather than spending the first 30 minutes figuring out what everyone wants to do.

Gather your group, find events, plan epic game nights, create shared play logs, and easily manage your collection on Aftergame.

There is still time for you to enter our Crazy Catan tournament at this Saturday's May WABA: Mt Claremont meet (9 May). Crazy Catan is a different way to play Catan - it's fast, noisy and a little bit unhinged!

You will have a list of objectives to complete (e.g. collect a brick, build a settlement, play a development card). You will also be moving from one Catan island to another, with everything you built being left behind. Win by completing all the objectives or having the most completed when time runs out.

The winner wins a copy of First in Flight!
