Spotlighting Our Community: Meet the Dynamic Mums!
The Organisation of Zambians Living in Western Australia (OZALIWA) is proud to introduce one of our most recent and vibrant sub-groups: The Dynamic Mums! 🇿🇲🇦🇺

Born from a shared vision to enrich the lives of our youngest generation, this dedicated group of mothers created a platform specifically for our children and friends of the Zambian community.
Their mission? To foster connection, culture, and fun through engaging, child-focused activities.

Recent Highlights

If you missed their recent Kids’ High Tea, you missed a masterclass in organization! It was a beautiful afternoon filled with laughter, elegance, and community spirit. Seeing our children come together in such a well-coordinated setting was a testament to the passion these mothers bring to our community.

See Them in Action!

We are thrilled to announce that the Dynamic Mums will be presenting at the upcoming OZALIWA 20th Anniversary Gala!
As we celebrate two decades of community during Harmony Week right here in Perth, the Dynamic Mums will be sharing more about their journey and how they are shaping the future for our kids.
Join us in celebrating them!

We are excited to announce that the African Language Academy Australia (ALAA) will be participating in the landmark 20th Anniversary celebration of the Organisation of Zambians Living in Western Australia (OZALIWA)!

At ALAA, language is more than just words—it is the heartbeat of identity, culture, and connection. As our community gathers to commemorate two decades of Zambian culture in WA during Harmony Week, we are proud to support the preservation of the "Motherland's" rich linguistic heritage. 🇿🇲🇦🇺

Whether you are looking to reconnect with your roots or want your children to carry the cadence of their ancestral tongue, we invite you to join us at the celebration. Let’s weave together stories, history, and traditions that keep our vibrant culture alive for the next generation.

Muli bwanji?

As Zambians living in Western Australia and part of OZALIWA, we are stoked to share about Harmony Day! 😊

For us, it's a day to celebrate the beautiful mix of cultures that make Australia home. It's about embracing our differences, respecting each other's stories, and feeling like we belong. Whether you're from Zambia, Australia, or anywhere else, we're all united by shared Aussie values like fairness, mateship, and giving back.

Harmony Day lands on March 21, which is also the UN International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. It's a powerful reminder of why we do what we do.

And guess what? OZALIWA is turning 20! 🎉

We're celebrating two decades of serving the Zambian community in WA, and we're doing it on Harmony Day! It's a double celebration – come join us at 289 Belgravia Street, Cloverdale, Perth from 2PM - 8PM. Free entry, bring the whole family, and let's party! 🎊

Since 1999, Aussies have been hosting over 70,000 Harmony Day events – from schools to community groups, and even workplaces! It's a movement, and we're proud to be part of it.

So let's keep celebrating our diversity, sharing our cultures, and building a community where everyone feels valued.

African Language Academy Australia

African Language Academy Australia (ALAA) is a pioneering language institution dedicated to teaching and preserving African languages; aligned with its mission:
To teach and coach the next generation to achieve their personal best in speaking their mother tongue and in so doing affirming their identity.

In Sept 2022 ALAA was recognized with an OACWA award in business “Excellence & Innovations” , WA Community Awards Gala Night.

Some of ALAA innovations and approach include:
1. Its business model is anchored by two strategic pillars: that language is best taught by the owners of that particular language and that language must not just be taught as words or sentences but rather must be taught with the cultural context, traditions and heritage of that particular language.

2. At ALAA, the “teacher has not taught until the student has learned”

3. Real drum-roll by students at graduation ceremonies and certificates to graduates are presented by a grandparent in that particular language to symbolize passing on African culture to the next generation.

4. Spear heading advocacy for “Swahili in Schools” (SIS) project. With letters of support received from Zambia’s High Commissioner to Australia; past OACWA President, to name but a few. We seek your support on this project.

In November 2024: Times of Zambia featured an article on ALAA by Mr Charles Mucholo, First Secretary – Press & Public Relations, Office of Zambia High Commissioner to Australia https://alaa.com.au/read-all-about-it/

We are looking forward to providing online pre-recorded lessons in the near future. We have a new-look website and are now enrolling for January 2026 with payment plans on offer; at https://alaa.com.au/enrolment/
