The Yellow Umbrella Foundation is proud to partner with The Magic Coat Foundation. What is a "Magic Coat"?

The Magic Coat is an imaginary coat that helps children to feel safe and deal with difficult situations they may come across. The Magic Coat encourages children to use strategies that enhance a positive energy, growing their confidence and resilience.

The Magic Coat Foundation provide vulnerable children along with their families and carers access to programs to ensure they receive the support they desperately need.

You can learn more about their work by visiting their website:

Just in time for term two, The Magic Coat is releasing new education videos for teachers to utilise with their students in the classroom.

Wheelchairs for Kids is a Yellow Umbrella Foundation Charity Partner. Their mission is to build and fit custom wheelchairs that suit the needs of kids in all kinds of locations and communities.

Built to World Health Organization guidelines, our wheelchairs are purpose-designed to withstand regular use in the rugged terrain and uneven surfaces common in the developing world—opening up a life changing level of mobility and accessibility that would be impossible with a regular wheelchair.

Recently, the Wheelchairs for Kids team traveled to Bali to fit wheelchairs for two children, Ketut and Kadek. You can read the story about these two children in their blog post-

Wheelchairs For Kids Australia success story on donating wheelchairs to children with disability in Bali. Kadek is able to go to school for the first time.

Meet our new Director of Partnerships and Projects: Brandon Secomb.

Brandon Secomb is a project strategist, entrepreneur, and purpose-driven leader who brings over a decade of experience across recruitment, business development, and project ex*****on. His work spans both the private and not-for-profit sectors, with a deep focus on building systems that create real-world outcomes.

What drives Brandon is personal. Having come from a background where he witnessed the effects of instability and mental health challenges on young people, he developed a strong conviction early on: that every child deserves safety, support, and a pathway to thrive. This conviction led him into youth mentorship work, which became a foundation for his professional journey.

As Director of Partnerships and Projects at The Yellow Umbrella Foundation, Brandon is responsible for leading high-impact initiatives, forming strategic alliances, and delivering community projects that improve the lives of children and youth—particularly those affected by mental health issues and social disadvantage.

He believes that when we invest in the next generation with integrity and purpose, we shape the future.

The Yellow Umbrella Foundation has at it's core a focus on the healthy development and strong mental health of our children. The Foundation serves as a catalyst to address the growing concern of mental health issues among children by providing financial support to organisations that offer essential mental health services to young people.

By focusing on early intervention and preventive measures, the foundation aims to improve the overall well-being and future prospects of children across Australia.

Check the images for signs to look out for in your child that may suggest they need a little more support with their mental health.

What does a child need to have the opportunity to grow to their full potential?

Every child needs to feel safe.

Safe to be themselves, safe to learn and make mistakes, safe to experiment.

They need to feel safe at home, safe with their friends, and safe with their family.

No one can learn or develop if they are constantly scared, unsure, or fearful. The Yellow Umbrella Foundation is working to fund projects and organisations that work hard to help more children feel safe, every day, so they can grow into the adult they want to be.
