Incase you missed our story last week, we want to introduce you to Gianna. πŸ’›

Gianna is one of our incredible young participants at Thriving in Motion, and her family has generously allowed us to share her story. We'll be honest, hearing her instructor talk about her with such care and admiration is the kind of thing that reminds us exactly why we do this work, and we love seeing the smiles on the face of our amazing colleague when they tell us the weekly session stories. 😊

Gianna joined Thriving in Motion in 2023 with diagnoses of Down Syndrome, Epilepsy, Autism and anxiety. By Term 3 of 2024, she'd disengaged from school entirely and rarely left home. Thriving in Motion became the one community space she still came to.

From being too anxious to enter the building, to walking in confidently, sending her parents to wait in the car, and calling out 'Hi.'

Her parents describe it simply, "an excellent program run by even better people." 🫢

If you support young people who face barriers to mainstream sport and physical activity, as an allied health professional, support coordinator, educator, or NDIS provider, we'd love to connect and chat more about our referral pathways.

Gianna's full story is on our blog. We're cheering her on every step of the way.

This Sunday, we're heading to the ConnectUp launch event at Bandit Basketball Centre and we're bringing a few tricks with us.

Come and test your strength, see how high you can jump, and challenge your reaction time with our Blaze Pods the same tools our exercise physiologists use with the young people we work with every week.

It's free, it's fun, and it's a chance to see what evidence-based exercise actually feels like in action.

Come and find us on Sunday 7 June at Bandit Basketball Centre. We'd love to meet you.

"Thriving has become one of the few community-based 'safe spaces' where Gianna feels able to participate. She always leaves sessions smiling and proud of what she has achieved."

There are programs that show up for young people when things are going well. And then there are the ones that stay when things get hard. Gianna has diagnoses of Down Syndrome, Epilepsy, Autism and anxiety. She joined our inclusive exercise programs in Perth in 2023.

Last year, she disengaged from school and stopped wanting to leave home. Thriving in Motion became the one place she still came to. Read her full story at the link πŸ”—https://www.thrivinginmotion.org/when-everything-else-fell-away/

Something we've been working on for a while is finally here and we couldn't be more excited to share it with you.

We are launching the Thriving Collective, our new monthly giving community.

For 15 years, we've created spaces where young West Australians feel seen, supported, and empowered through movement. The Collective is how we keep those spaces open, week after week, term after term, all year long.

A monthly gift of any size holds a place for a young person who needs it. It lets us plan a full term instead of wondering about the next week. It means the next family who finds us can be told yes.

πŸ’¬ Meet another one of our wonderful Thriving in Motion participants...

"I just enjoy socialising while being able to do exercises at the same time. I enjoy being able to socialise and actually enjoy exercising."

That's the magic of Youth Moves β€” it's never just about exercise. It's about connection, community, and finding your people while you move your body. πŸ™Œ

And now we're bringing that same energy to Bunbury! If you know a young person aged 12–24 who'd love a welcoming, social, and active space β€” we'd love to see them there.

Youth Moves is heading south! 🌟

We are so excited to share that our Youth Moves program is now being delivered in Bunbury β€” and our Community Engagement Officer Ben is on the ground making it happen. πŸ’™

Youth Moves is all about connecting young people with the joy of movement in a way that feels safe, supportive, and genuinely fun. Seeing it grow into new communities like Bunbury is exactly what this work is all about.

We couldn't be more proud of Ben and the team for the relationships they are building down south. If you're in the Bunbury area and want to know more, get in touch, we'd love to connect! πŸ™Œ
