It is a sad sight, the once busy and bustling Duncraig Leisure Centre sits underutilised and neglected on a Saturday morning. What are the City's plans for this facility that is currently leased to the Churches of Christ Sport and Recreation Association for its basketball program for $3,364 pa? The CCSRA's "user pays" policy has resulted in many groups having to leave or charge members higher fees. This centre was built by the community and run by the City on behalf of the ratepayers until it was privatised in 2020. Shame on the Council that voted 8-5 to take this much loved facility away from the residents and ratepayers.

Meanwhile City of Joondalup leases two ratepayer owned leisure centres to the Churches of Christ for their use and profit. Only one ratepayer owned leisure centre operated by the City of Joondalup compared with 6 or 7 by City of Stirling. Something to learn here.
