We've chosen to wait until now to show our distaste as the main act is a q***r woman and we know how easy it is for the public to attack women and minority groups when the ACTUAL PERPETRATORS continue to hold their power and influence in our music community.

A STEP TOWARDS PREVENTING THE SILENCING OF SURVIVORS

QLD Law update - The key measure will remove restrictions in the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences) Act 1978 (CLSO Act), which currently prohibit reporting of the identity of accused rapists and defendants charged with other prescribed sexual offences prior to committal.

A prescribed sexual offence includes r**e, attempt to commit r**e, assault with intent to commit r**e and sexual assault.

When the laws commence on 3 October 2023, those accused of these sexual offences will be treated the same as individuals charged with any other offence, with details about their identity able to be published, except where it would identify or tend to lead to the identification of the complainant.

The 62-year-old industry professional can now be identified after new state legislation that came into effect on Oct. 3.

Guess what? In Queensland the media no longer has to keep the names of perpretators confidential while they’re waiting to be sentenced. A small step in legislating to protect survivors rather than the reputations of the people that have harmed them.

This response from the perpetrators counsel is typical of minimising a survivors experience of r**e “Champion is represented by “top criminal silk” Craig Eberhardt KC, who told the court last November that the allegations had only been made recently, but it was “a very old allegation, it dates back to 2013,” and that the complainant was an adult.”
