THE โญSTARS HAVE TO ALIGN BUT WHEN THEY DO...ONE-OFF ROAD ๐Ÿ›ฃ TRIPS ARE POSSIBLE ๐Ÿ™‚
The beauty of a self-powered service with its own water tanks? We have the occasional ability to go where people are that can't make it to one of the service hub locations we regularly attend.

Operating a mobile service is pretty resource intensive - time and people. There has to be a gap in our regular service commitments and, because we are all vollies, people have to be available.

But it does happen and we love it when we can do it.
DM us when the time comes.

We had a First time and a Last time on Tuesday.

First time that we've had to stop and make our designated City of Perth hub space - whether at Moore or Royal Streets - clean enough to be able to offer visitors access to our hygiene services.

And Last time we get to setup next to our neighbour Allan K from Orange Sky Australia . An anchor for the Perth city support hub for years, ever dependable, always uniquely entertaining. Adventures awaiting for all, wherever Allan lands next. Thanks Allan (and a fantastic cake Wendy).

Daily teams are still trying to sort out how best to set up at the new City site, which seems large until we try and fit everyone and everything needed into it.
Sundays and Tuesdays are the most challenging.
Separation, space, and elbow room between different types of services makes for a safer environment, and a less stressed and enjoyable experience for everyone.
Cleanliness and sanitation remains a problem and, while working toilets ๐Ÿšฝ are great, they are not very useful without bog roll ๐Ÿ—ž.

We took a detour south on Fri morning to help out a nan, carer for her grandson, so we could keep an eye out while she enjoyed a few quiet moments in a hot shower.

We ended up having quite a few guests and even more good conversations, reminding us about the logistical challenges that people without a home face just in order to access simple basics like a shower.

Even if there is a rare public one in your area, how do you get there while also keeping your living site and possessions safe?

Many of the people that do have cars can barely manage to keep them moving let alone afford the fuel. They are often reserved for special use, like appointments, school and family visits, shopping for essentials.

Unless your bicycle is well-equipped and securable, it's tough to take your most valuable possessions with you.

Bus drivers are increasingly resistance to allowing people to take their small trolleys on the bus with them.

Happy with a bucket scrub and rinse? But where does the water come from? Is there anyone to watch your back during a very private and vulnerable moment like taking a shower?

Thanks to Vital and Lisa for making the morning a good one and to Tim, Jo and co for spending the morning chatting and seeing for themselves as they search for longer term solutions.

We've been a tad quiet here lately as we navigate a few headwinds, but we're still beavering away behind the scenes accompanied by a few sweat and tears moments.

For instance? While our weekly services continue front of house, we've been collaborating with our friends at Midland Meals and the City of Swan for over a year to seek approval to set up a watering station to allow our beloved trailer to supply regular access to locally provided showers as an extension of an amazing - and get this - a 365 days per year food and outreach service in a public Midland carpark. The logistics to make this happen are mind-boggling.

Think on that. Midland Meals. A community-based volunteer-driven group that hunts, gathers, prepares and shares meals each and every day of the year for those that are falling a bit short of what they need to get to the next day. You won't find too many across he country that can front up each and every day with that kind of support. And offered along with value-adding like clothes, conversation, care and advocacy.

For us, it's the perfect match. Our beloved - and tricked up - shower trailer kept our service afloat while we built our current, very functional and very pretty free range workhorse truck.

In anticipation of hopeful approval, our generous mates at supremo truck builders A Class Fabrications are also tweaking and improving our shower trailer to afford future Midland users the best possible experience. Stay tuned.
