WHY SCOUTS?

It's not always about earning badges or learning new skills.

Sometimes it's about sitting around a campfire with friends, sharing stories and making memories.

At Scouts, the adventures are important — but so are the friendships you make along the way.

There are new skills to learn, challenges to take on and plenty of adventures to be had, but there is also a place to belong.

That's one of the reasons we love Scouts.

ADVENTURE IS OUT THERE!

With the school holidays underway, we're throwing it back to one of our Scout adventures on the water.

There's something pretty special about getting outdoors, trying something new and having a bit of fun along the way.

At Scouts, there's always another adventure waiting — whether it's camping, hiking, climbing, paddling or discovering somewhere new.

And judging by that thumbs-up, we think this adventure got the tick of approval!

🏆 CONGRATULATIONS LUKE! 🎉

A huge congratulations to Luke B, who has completed his Australian Scout Award!

Luke’s journey hasn’t always been an easy one, and there were times when we weren’t sure whether he would make it to the finish line.

But Luke kept going.
Through perseverance, determination and belief in himself, he continued working towards his goal and has now achieved something he can be incredibly proud of.

His Australian Scout Award was presented to him at Manjedal Camp, surrounded by his fellow Scouts, leaders and friends — a pretty special way to celebrate such a significant achievement.

The Australian Scout Award is the peak award in the Scout section, recognising the effort, skills, challenges and personal growth that Scouts work towards throughout their journey.

Luke, you should be incredibly proud of what you have achieved. You proved that sometimes the most important thing is simply to keep going.

👏 Well done, Luke! We can't wait to see what adventure comes next!

WHAT A WEEKEND AT MANJEDAL!

On Friday night, our Cubs, Scouts and Venturers headed off to Manjedal for a weekend of camping, adventure and plenty of challenges.

The rain met us when we arrived, but that didn’t stop us! ☔️ Tents went up, everyone got settled and it wasn’t long before we were all tucked into bed ready for the weekend ahead.

Saturday morning started early! Our Cubs were up at 5.30am, raring to go. While the Scouts set up the eating shelters and got breakfast ready, the Cubs headed off for a walk around Manjedal.
After breakfast, our Joeys arrived and everyone headed off for a full day of activities.

🏹 The Scouts and Venturers started with archery, while the Joeys and Cubs took on the confidence course. Then the Scouts and Venturers tackled the confidence course while the Cubs and joeys put their skills to the test on the blind trail.

After lunch it was time for more challenges, with the Scouts heading out on a navigation course, while our Cubs and Joeys took on crate stacking and vertical climbing.

Before heading onto the climbing activities, everyone took part in a really good climbing safety briefing. The kids were completely engaged, listening carefully and following instructions (even karate hands) — and it certainly helped keep everyone enthusiastic about having a go!

👏 A huge congratulations to Harvey, our highest crate stacker! And well done to everyone who reached the top of the climbing wall — there were plenty of very proud faces up there!

Our Venturers split their time between the different activities, getting involved wherever they could.

Then came some well-earned free time before the leaders set everyone a challenge — lighting a fire using flint and steel. 🔥

For about half an hour, everyone had a go... and then Greg decided it was time to show us how it was done.

One strike. One fire. 😂🔥

Dinner followed, and then it was time for a campfire singalong. 🎶

Let's just say our Scouts certainly proved they know how to make themselves heard!

The Joeys and Cubs eventually headed off to bed, while the Scouts and Venturers stayed around the fire, swapping stories and enjoying the evening.

🌧️ Sunday morning brought more rain, but it certainly didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits, especially those cubs up early at 5.15......

The Scouts and Venturers were back in the kitchen cooking breakfast while the Cubs headed out for a morning walk.

And then came one of those unexpected camp moments that everyone will remember...🦘 Three kangaroos! The Cubs stood spellbound for about 10 minutes watching them quietly munching on the grass. Definitely a pretty special way to start the morning.

After breakfast, it was time to pack up.

Everyone pitched in to get the equipment back into the trailer, with all the gear brought out from the tents and under the eating shelter.

Then came the less glamorous part of camping...
Pulling down all those wet tents! ☔️😬

We finished with a quick Scouts' Own, where everyone had the chance to share what they had enjoyed most about the camp, followed by a very special award ceremony.

Then it was time for the parents to arrive and everyone headed home — tired, happy and probably ready for a shower!

Although... we still have about 15 wet tents waiting to be hung up!

A huge thank you to our leaders, helpers, parents and, most importantly, our Joeys, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers for making it such a fantastic weekend.

Lots of adventure, lots of challenges, lots of teamwork and plenty of memories made.

That's what Scouts is all about.

NEXT STOP... MANJEDAL!

This weekend, our Joeys, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers are all heading to Manjedal for a weekend of camping, adventure and fun.

There's been plenty happening behind the scenes as all four sections get ready for camp. Our Joeys have been getting some practice putting up the tents, while our Gear Store and equipment have been getting organised and prepared for the weekend.

There's plenty planned, including the confidence course and crate stacking plus lots of other fun activities, as well as time to relax and enjoy being at camp.

We can't wait to get everyone together for a great weekend!
