Cub Scouts underground!!

Last night our cubs got to explore the Leighton Battery and WWII tunnels, taking a peak at what the home front was like in WA during WWII as part of working towards the Their Service, Our Heritage award.

A huge thank you to the volunteers at the Leighton Battery for making this experience possible! The cub scouts had a blast!

Last night, Cubs from across the Melville District joined together at Baden Powell Reserve for an action-packed Nerf gun battle🔥

With over 70 Cubs attending, the evening was filled with pioneering, teamwork, problem solving, meeting new friends and plenty of adventure.
Scouting plays such a valuable role in our community, giving young people opportunities to build confidence, resilience, friendships and lifelong skills through fun and engaging experiences.

A huge THANK YOU goes to the incredible volunteer Leaders who made the night possible. 🔥🍕 Master Chef / Nasty Chef Night 🍦🧇

Wednesday night’s Scouts meeting was full of creativity, laughs, and some very questionable food combinations!

Scouts were challenged to make their “Nasty Chef” dish at home, before cooking their “Master Chef” creation at the hall in just 40 minutes. Dishes were judged on both presentation and taste — for BOTH the good and nasty creations! 🤢👨‍🍳

We saw an awesome range of dishes including ice cream, pizza, waffles, pancakes, pasta, chocolate pastries, noodles and eggs. Who knew waffles could be made with fish sauce?! 🤮😂

All scores were added to patrol total with the patrol with the most points winning the 🏆 Master Chef Plate 🏆 for the term.

Congratulations to Gibson for taking out the overall win on the night, and well done to Eagle Patrol for achieving the highest overall patrol score! 👏

On Monday, our Joeys had some very special visitors, with their mums coming along to celebrate Mother's Day 💙

The Joeys decorated cupcakes for Mum — including making one into a compass complete with N, S, E and W to help remember the main Cardinal points 🧭🧁

They also made their own “Good Turn Joey” to take home, with hidden stars in the pouch to help remind them of all the good turns they can do over the next two weeks.

The mums have never had it so good!

Last night our Cubs kicked off 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐭 — the start of their survival skills journey!

They learned why shelters are important in the wild — offering protection from the elements, warmth, and a safe place to rest — before putting their knowledge into action.

Working in their patrols, they were challenged to build a shelter big enough for their patrol to fit inside (maybe not comfortably).

With the main floodlight out, we made do with lanterns — which only added to the adventure and gave the night a real outdoors feel 🔦

There was some great teamwork on display, with everyone pitching in to make it happen 👏

A fantastic night of learning, problem-solving, and fun!

Huge congratulations to Luke on achieving both his Australian Scout Award and Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award! 🎉👏

These achievements represent a huge amount of time, effort and perseverance — from service and skill development through to outdoor adventure. This included taking on the challenge of hiking Bluff Knoll alongside our Venturers and Rovers, even though hiking is not Luke’s favourite thing to do!

An amazing milestone in your Scouting journey — well done, Luke!

Scouting offers young people the chance to get outdoors, try new activities, make friends and grow in confidence along the way.
