IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR ALL PAKISTANIS IN AUSTRALIA …………MUST READ
Today, I honestly feel like Allah has given me a second life.
I went to Cronulla Beach Wanda after 6 pm with a few friends. The beach was almost empty, no lifeguards, no flags, no poles… nothing. Me and my friend decided to go into the water, and within minutes we got caught in a rip current.
Even though I know how to swim, I realised very quickly that this was something else. The ocean kept pulling me further out, wave after wave hitting me. I tried my best to swim back, but I was getting more and more tired. Eventually I became so exhausted that I stopped trying because I had no strength left.
My other friends were on the shore, watching us helplessly, they couldn’t do anything. That moment was terrifying.
Honestly, I thought this is the end. Maybe it was someone’s dua, or Allah’s mercy, but a surfer who happened to be passing by saw me struggling and saved my life and one other surfer who was already surfing saved my friend’s life. If they weren’t there, I wouldn’t be writing this today.
I’m sharing this because many of us, especially Pakistanis who are new here, don’t understand how dangerous Australian beaches can be, especially after lifeguards go home.
These are lessons learned the hard way,
1. Never go into the water after 6 pm, no lifeguards, no safety, no support.
2. Always swim between the red and yellow flags that is the ONLY safe area.
3. Rips are extremely powerful even strong swimmers cannot fight them.
4. Do not panic if you get caught, float, stay calm, and swim sideways.
5. Don’t take the ocean lightly it doesn’t matter if you know how to swim, the sea is stronger than all of us.
I am truly grateful to Allah for giving us another chance at life. I don’t want anyone else to go through what I went through today.
Please stay safe. May Allah protect all of us. 🙏
