As we move into Makuru, the traditional Noongar season of rain and cold, we welcome the darkest blue time of the year. Occurring during June and July, Makuru is the coldest and wettest season in the South West of Western Australia, with winds shifting from the west and south, bringing heavy rainfall and occasionally even snow to the higher ranges. Nature continues to thrive during this season, with beautiful native flowers such as the blueberry lily and purple flags emerging, while the weeping peppermint begins to bloom as Makuru draws to a close. We look forward to exploring the changes this season brings and deepening our connection to Country through learning about the rich Noongar seasonal calendar. πππ§οΈ
