Next weekend is National Animal Rights Day.
A day where we acknowledge and honour Western Australian animals who lost their lives at human hands over the last year. This includes the multiple millions of farmed and wild caught animals killed in our state, wildlife and introduced species, captive animals used for human entertainment, animal testing and any individual killed due to some form of human exploitation.

Our selection of speakers and stallholders represent our local animal rights community, vegan businesses and animal rescue organisations who choose to shape a better world for fellow our non-human animal earthlings.

Please join us in sorrow and in celebration.
Feel free to bring along any image (non-graphic) of an animal who has lost their life at human hands in the last year to lay down in our memorial.

Thank you to the team that came out to join us at Riverside Gardens for our Riverbank clean-up yesterday afternoon.

With so many people we managed to cover a large area and get a significant amount of human debris out of the area, reducing the impact on the river system and the animals that live there. Great work everyone.

It was our first time at this locations and many of our volunteers remarked that they collected vastly more waste than they expected looking at the site from afar.

Main types of waste found included: polystyrene, cigarette butts and hard and soft plastics. We found less discarded fishing line and paraphernalia than other sites but it was still present.

For our next clean-up we will return to McCallum Park in Victoria Park for another afternoon session - watch our page for details soon.

Big thanks to Nathan from We the Free Perth for cross-promoting our clean-up alongside their first social event and drawing more folks in to join us.

See you at the next one ✌️

NARD16: An annual day commemorated in a growing number of countries across the world dedicated solely to animals and their rights.

Sunday 7th June | 10am - 2pm | Forrest Place, Perth

On this day we will gather in Perth to commemorate the billions of animals who lost their lives at human hands in the past year. We will celebrate the animals in our lives, the wins of the animal rights movement and educate the public about the sad reality of animal exploitation.

Featuring a vegan mini-market of local animal focused organisations and local vegan businesses, speakers, live musical performance and a silent memorial walk.

Please feel free to bring along images of animals who lost their lives in the past year to lay down in our memorial.

Our next riverbank clean-up is one for the folks that are not early risers. We are going to head to Riverside Gardens in Bayswater. The clean-up is timed so we can end at sunset.

We aim to clean up litter, particularly discarded fishing lines and rubbish from our riverbanks and save animals from harm. It's also a nice chance for chats and a stroll with purpose.

If you want to join us, please read our Code of Conduct and Litter Picking Guidelines which will be posted in the FB event and available on the event day.
Wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather.

Gloves, Hi-Vis and bags will be provided. If you have a litter picker please bring this along.

We hope to see you there.

Dr Natalie Anderson of Animal Free Science Advocacy was due to deliver 'Beyond Animal Testing' at the sadly cancelled Perth Vegan Expo.

We are delighted that the presentation will now be delivered as a webinar on the 11th May instead.

Register to attend now so you don't miss out!

We’re excited to invite supporters to our upcoming webinar, Beyond Animal Testing, presented by Dr Natalie Anderson, AFSA's Regulatory Science Officer.

Join us on Monday 11 May at 7:00 pm to explore why animal testing for human medicines is one of the most solvable forms of animal exploitation — and how human-relevant methods like organoids, organs-on-chips, AI and the virtual human are already changing the future.

A powerful, practical conversation about science, advocacy and how real change can happen.
