Thanks so much to everyone that attended our Wildflower walk and Vegan Picnic social today.
The weather held out for us and it was a lovely day all round. 🌸☀️
Once again it was lovely to see familiar faces and a few new.

The Christmas Fairy invites you to a Christmas Elves and Fairies themed vegan-friendly high tea.

We just received some exciting new gear for our Riverbank Clean-up events from Waterhaul | Recycled 🌊 Plastic.

Foldable, modular & repairable litter pickers made from recycled traceable marine plastic. Plus gloves made from recycled fibre, including small/kids ones. The company is UK based, we couldn’t find a similar business here in Australia, or anywhere closer to us, which is shame because it’s SUCH a great concept.

The gear will go into packs for our local clean-up champions, people who have stepped up to organise regular river-bank clean ups in their local area. If you would like to become a clean-up champion in your community, drop us a message. If you want to attend a clean-up event, keep an eye on our socials, our next one is scheduled for 11am on 24th October at Fishmarket Reserve in Guildford.

Yesterday our riverbank clean-up team removed heaps of trash from the riverbank in McCallum Park in Vic Park.

We collected all kinds of consumer waste, plastic bags, food wrappers, bottle caps, straws and other packaging. We also picked up many used needles and fishing paraphernalia, lots of line, hooks and lures and two knives!

Removing these items from the environment reduces the risk of harm to wildlife.

It’s also a great chance to catch up, spend time outside alongside the beautiful Derbal Yerrigan and spot the animals we are trying to protect including cormorants, darters and ducks. Thanks to everyone who came along and helped.

Come join us for our next community social - a wildflower walk and vegan picnic at Karrgatup (Kings Park) on Saturday the 10th October.

[10:30am] Wildflower Walk:
- We will meet at 10:30am at the Gija Boab (near forest carpark) and then aim to begin the walk at 10:45am.
- We will do the 1.5hr Botanic Garden Discovery walk at Karrgatup (Kings Park).

[12pm] Picnic Lunch:
- Around 12pm (after walk) we will find a nice spot around the peppermint lawn area to have a vegan lunch picnic.
- Feel free to bring some vegan food to share, however no obligation to either.

Forrest Carpark (closest to meeting place) - "Forrest Carpark is located is the best option if you wish to see the Giant Boab, 'Gija Jumulu'. The carpark has 18 parking spaces as well as 3 ACROD spots."
