Say hi to Layla, our new Marketing & Communications Officer in Adelaide! 👋

Layla wants to help connect people with their fellow members of the HD community and with the support and services we offer at HA. You'll find her writing our newsletters, website content, social media posts, and more.

Layla has worked across sustainability, education, and e-commerce, helping organisations engage with the world through words. She's passionate about learning all she can about Huntington's and getting to know our amazing community, which she's been lucky enough to do at Coffee & Co in Adelaide.

Layla's hobbies include reading and watching reality TV - to keep things balanced. She also loves exploring nature, all kinds of music, op-shopping, and cats.

It started with a bang in Perth. And slowly but surely, made its way around Australia.

Buildings and landmarks lit up in blue and purple, sparking conversations and spreading awareness of Huntington's disease. From the Story Bridge and National Museum of Australia, to Karratha's Red Earth Art District and City of Hobart's Tasman Bridge, Light It Up 4 HD was hard to miss.

Thanks to everyone who showed up, sent us pictures, and shared the hashtag . Special thanks to the councils, organisations, and businesses who took part lighting up their landmarks.

We can't wait to see what next May brings ✨

Are you aware of the Australian Government’s reform for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)?

Many people in the HD community rely on the NDIS. With the announcement of proposed reforms, you likely have questions about what it means for you, your family, and future supports.

At this stage, there are no immediate changes to existing NDIS plans. However, Huntington’s Australia will keep you informed of any updates.

We know that with HD, support needs change over time. So, it’s important that any future NDIS reforms reflect this reality. HA will continue to advocate to ensure our community’s needs are met.

with actor and comedian, Will Forte, as he starts a global conversation.

The SNL legend shared this video, in partnership with Huntington's Disease Society of America, urging people to learn more about HD, and do what they can to help. Forte has been vocal on talk shows, podcasts, and in interviews, about his brother-in-law and family's journey with HD, and why we need much more awareness and support.

HD Awareness Month is coming to a close, but it's always a good time to start the conversation.
