The Second-Hand Uniform Shop and Friends of Music are both important and special parts of your P&C. We would not be here without our vital volunteers who have given thousands and thousands of hours over many decades. ❤️Thank You ❤️

😃👏❤️ Thank you to everyone who attended last night's P&C meeting in person and online. Thanks also to Mitch Mackay for his Principal's Report, support and guidance.

To date P & C School Support approved in 2026 includes:
• $6,000 Outdoor and Aquatic Recreation Equipment (24 Feb)
• $18,414 Seating Outside Beasley and Parsons Buildings (24 Feb)
• $4,981 Guest Speakers for Conversation Series (24 March)
• $50,000 Additional Contribution Towards Shading for Seating Basketball Courts (5 May)
• $7,000 Early Finish School Special Bus Trial – Fridays – 20 weeks (5 May)

Total School Support approved in 2026 is $86,395

Thank you to all of our P&C volunteers and Mod families. None of this would be possible without your P&C contributions and fundraising within the P&C.

Our next P&C meeting will be held on Tuesday 2 June at 6.30pm in the McCusker Boardroom in the Beasley Building. Scheduled P&C meetings are Tuesday of week 3 and week 7 each school term.

CYBERSAFETY PRESENTATION WITH PAUL LITHERLAND TUESDAY, 5 MAY

Helping families navigate the online world remains an important focus of our school community. Parents are encouraged to attend our upcoming Cyber Safety parent presentation with Paul Litherland OAM on Tuesday, 5 May. Drawing on more than 16 years of frontline experience, Paul will provide practical, relatable insights into the digital spaces young people use every day, along with clear strategies families can use to support safer and more responsible technology use at home.

Date: Tuesday, 5 May

Time: 6.00pm (please join us for light refreshments from 5.30pm)

Perth Modern School are also sharing a recent article by parenting expert Dr Justin Coulson that invites parents to look beyond screen-time limits and instead consider how digital use fits within a child’s overall wellbeing, using a practical 5 Cs framework.

FYI.

📣 eSafety has significant concerns about the compliance of Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok and YouTube with Australia’s social media minimum age laws.

Our latest report shows there has been some progress in the first 3 months, with large‑scale account removals and more visible underage reporting pathways.

However, insights from a range of sources indicate major gaps. eSafety has observed several poor practices that give rise to compliance concerns, including:
⚠ prompting children to attempt age assurance even where their declared age before 10 December was under 16
⚠ enabling children aged under 16 to repeatedly attempt the same age assurance method to ultimately get a 16+ outcome
⚠ failing to provide accessible or effective pathways for reporting age-restricted accounts
⚠ insufficient measures to prevent new under 16 accounts being created.

eSafety has notified the relevant age-restricted platforms about specific issues and expectations for improvement.

We are continuing to gather evidence necessary to inform potential enforcement action. eSafety has a range of enforcement powers, including infringement notices, enforceable undertakings and civil penalties of up to $49.5 million.
