Its not everyday that we get to host a global public speaking specialist and Tedx coach 😍 so when we were asked, it was a VERY EASY YESSSSS ☺️

We can't wait to catch up with Shil again and hear him speak. There will be a Q&A after too!

Area Contest 24 March 2026. Of all the days for the spotlight to not work, it was today πŸ˜… the day when we have a full house and other clubs joining πŸ˜‚ But thankfully Naman and David managed to get it working at the very last minute!!! Phewww what a relief!!

Tonight's meeting starts at 7pm instead, not 6pm. Sorry late notice. Its not going to be our usual meeting either, it will be an Area Contest. Participants will be competing in the International speech and Evaluation speech contest. Good Luck! Location: Oasis Comedy Club, upstairs Brisbane Hotel unless stated otherwise
Parking: on site or street parking, see street signs for more info
Time: 545pm for a sharp 6pm start
Duration: about 1 - 1.5 hours, we usually stay back for networking, drinks and maybe dinner
Vibe: Casual, stand up comedy vibes. Drinks allowed inside.

Visitors: Please RSVP by sending us a dm. No need to prepare or bring anything. Just rock up and say hi. We're a friendly bunch, promise πŸ˜‰

What to expect:
πŸ—£Emcee aka Toastmaster starts the meeting with a warm up, a short interactive round. Visitors welcomed to participate.
πŸ—£Table Topics segment where we work on our impromptu speaking skills. Table Topics Master will ask a question and pick someone from the audience to answer, usually members only. Participant gets 1-2 mins to answer question.
πŸ—£ Prepared speeches by our members 5-7 min speech
πŸ—£ Speech evaluation by more experienced members
πŸ—£ Visitors will be invited at end of meeting to introduce themselves and share their thoughts on the night. Feel free to skip your turn, no pressure.

24 FEB 2026 Great night with not one but TWO icebreaker speeches! A fun warm up by Toastmaster Jack where we all took turns sharing a fun fact. Table topics master Solomon kept us intrigued with his Would you rather questions.

We're doing our own lil Fringe Fest-ish meeting with a special segment called Slide Deck Roulette!!! πŸŽ™πŸ₯³ participants will be subject matter "experts" for the night and will give a short 3 min talk. What subjects you ask?? We dont know either πŸ˜… You get to decide πŸ˜† Good news is the ppt slides are ready. Will they make sense? Probably not πŸ˜‚ Come join us!!!
