The seeded area has had its spring haircut and is looking a treat!
The warm winter has led to ideal growing conditions for both plants 😊 and w**ds 😕. Luckily we can trim the w**ds so our plants can soak up the sun and water when we commence summer watering.

⭐️⭐️ Have a look at the progress Perrys Paddock plantings have made in just a few years. ⭐️⭐️

From July 2021 we have progressively planted towards Ocean Reef Road and revegetated a large area that had no vegetation besides grass and w**ds.
Our goal is to reach ORR by this time next year. 🤞

This will provide valuable habitat for regular wildlife visitors such as black cockatoos, wrens, w***y wagtails,swamp hens, quendas and turtles to name a few!

Watch this space in October 27 to see how we have gone. 📸

Well it took three days at the “office” to w**d and slash the other half of our winter planting area…
Initially we thought the hard job was to find the plants in the lush w**d growth. However the w**ding and whipper snipping was even tougher.
The end result is fantastic with a high plant (and volunteer) survival rate!

Next week - more w**ding in our other areas. 😊

PS - keep an eye out for 🐢 🐢 . It is the season for the females to come out and lay their eggs. If you see a turtle please don’t get too close. Give Bryan a call on 0412 400 874 and he will either come on down or advise you on the correct action to take.

A good day at the “office” yesterday. The BUPU Landcare area is now basking in the sunshine, with a bit of a trim around the plants to give them some sun, air and room to grow.
The other half of the area we all planted will get the same treatment next week.
Why don’t you enjoy the fine weather and come for a walk to have a look?
A reminder to - please don’t be tempted to remove the bamboo stakes. It can be hard for us to find the plants in the w**ds 🌻

🥰 A huge thank you to the 90 wonderful community members who helped put 2,000 plants to bed in their forever homes this morning.
Our small (but hardworking!) group was amazed at the turn out and we are truly grateful for all your help. 🥰

A big thank you also to Andrew from West to West who kindly donated gloves, trowels and hi vis vests, Kingsley Tennis Club for the use of the gazebo and urn and finally to Bryan and Jan for organising us all. 💐

As promised it was muddy,very muddy in parts but the rain held off and we were finished in time to enjoy morning tea and a chat in the sunshine. ☕️

This project is proudly supported by Bupa and Landcare Australia and will help restore a w**d and bulb infested part of Yellagonga Regional Park.
So don’t forget to walk on by occasionally and watch the area transform over the next few months. 🌳

Woodvale Waters Friends of Beenyup Channel have been truly blessed over the past few weeks with perfect weather to work in our beautiful area and also for the visits from 3 amazing corporate work groups.
On Tuesday 26th May we had our 3rd group visit for the month. as National Volunteer week was 18-24th May all these visits were timely.
This was the second time that we have hosted a group from Ernst & Young and the numbers keep growing. 18 E & Y employees visited us last Tuesday. It was a stunning day to be away from the Office and I know from the happy smiles and laughter that all enjoyed the day. The group worked very hard too, even the ladies used the whipper enippers and augers. Around 900 holes were augered completing the number for our June 28 Community Planting Day and these were filled with water crystals so they would take up supplies from the expected rain. Around 4 bags of South African bulbs (w**ds) were removed from the planting area. Another 13 bags of flat w**ds were also removed from a recently newly planted area and other individuals whipper snipped several areas which keeps w**ds under control.
We finished the day with a fabulous picnic supplied by E & Y under the shade of a tree overlooking the lake. Just PERFECT.
Thanks to the WWFBC crew for their organisation and participation to ensure everything went smoothly on the day.

WWFBC hope to see all our Corporate groups again as they are all very welcome.

On Tuesday 19th May we had a visit from 11 Scott Park Homes employees. They had a fabulous time and really did a great job. They planted and mulched 330 dryland plants and a very dedicated group of 3 spent their time on the augers drilling around 1300 holes in preparation for our Community Planting Day on Sunday June 28th. We have around 2500 plants to plant across 2 areas on tht day, one funded by a Landcare Grant sponsored by BUPA.

Last Tuesday, 12th May, we hosted a wonderful group of hard working volunteers from Minderoo. They planted, mulched and watered 460 plants during the morning. It was a beautiful day making our work day fun and productive. Thanks to Volunteering WA for organising the day.
