This week in Kids Church, we learned about Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, the three men who refused to bow down to King Nebuchadnezzar’s statue, even when it meant being thrown into a blazing furnace.

They chose to stand for what was right, no matter the cost. And they weren’t alone. In the fire, a fourth person was seen walking with them.
This story reminds us that following God doesn’t always mean life will be easy or that we won’t face hard things. But we can stand firm, knowing that God is with His people.
And ultimately, this story points us to Jesus—the One who stood in our place and faced what we could never face ourselves, so that we could be rescued and brought near to God. ❤️
May we have the courage to stand for what is right and remain faithful to God, no matter what. And may we remember that because of Jesus, we never stand alone. ✝️

The kids were learning about King Nebuchadnezzar’s strange dream - a huge statue made of different metals, representing kingdoms that would rise and fall.

But the best part? This story isn’t ultimately about a statue or even the kingdoms of this world. It points us to Jesus 👑
Daniel tells us about a stone, not cut by human hands, that comes and crushes the statue. God’s kingdom will come and destroy every earthly kingdom, and His kingdom will last forever.

Earthly kingdoms come and go. Kings rise and fall. But Jesus is the true King, and His kingdom will never end❤️

This week we learnt about Jonah, who ran away from God and ended up in the belly of a great fish! 🐋

Jonah didn’t think the people of Nineveh deserved God’s mercy, but God showed that his compassion is greater than we often imagine.

We also saw how Jonah points us to Jesus, the greater Jonah - who died, was buried, and rose again so that everyone who trusts in him can receive God’s mercy and forgiveness ❤️

Did you know every service at Melville Church is a family service?

Children are always welcome in our worship services. We love having them with us because we believe being part of corporate worship helps them grow in their faith and reminds them that they are valued members of our church family.

For our littlest ones, we also offer a creche during both services where they can move and play. During school terms, we run Kids Church in our afternoon service, giving children an age-appropriate opportunity to learn from God’s Word.

Kids church is having a break for the school holidays but will be back again on the 26th of July ready for more stories, songs and craft 🎨

This week in Kids Church, we learned about Elijah and the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel (1 Kings 18).
The people had forgotten that the Lord is the one true God, so Elijah challenged the prophets of Baal to see whose god could answer with fire. Baal never answered, but God sent fire from heaven, showing His power and proving that He alone is God.
This amazing story points us forward to Jesus. Just as God showed His power on Mount Carmel, He showed His greatest power through Jesus’ death and resurrection. Jesus came to save us and bring us back to God.
What a joy it is to teach our children that the God of Elijah is the same God we know and trust today - faithful, powerful, and full of grace.
✨ “The Lord, He is God! The Lord, He is God!” (1 Kings 18:39)

Pentecost marks the beginning of God’s plan to reach the nations with the gospel. On Sunday, the children heard the story of what happened at Pentecost and how we too can share the good news of Jesus Christ with the people around us.

On Good Friday, little hands created crosses, but we remembered a love so big it changed everything.
Jesus gave His life for us so we could be forgiven, free, and forever His ✝️

Little hands, big story 🌿
Last Sunday the kids celebrated the King who came riding on a donkey, welcomed with palm branches and praise.
And as they made their crosses and painted palm branches, we remembered this King who came to save ✝️
Hosanna in the highest!

Kids church is more than just crayons, crackers and entertaining. We feed the children with the Bread of Life, we teach them the gospel story of God’s redemption from the fall of Adam and Eve all the way through to the return of Christ. We add fun to faith, we don’t replace faith with fun.

Kids church runs every Sunday during the school term in the 4pm service .church
