🌦️ MONDAY MORNING UPDATE - 7:15AM 🌦️

Well legends, you can probably hear it before you even look outside... the winds have finally eased compared to the absolute flogging parts of WA copped yesterday and overnight.

The deep low has packed its bags and started buggering off to the east, meaning the worst of the event is now behind us. We'll still see showers moving through during the day and some of those heavier showers could still kick up a few gusty winds, but we're no longer dealing with the widespread damaging and destructive wind threat that dominated Sunday.

💧 Rainfall totals since 9am yesterday have been impressive:
• Bickley - 31.5mm
• Dwellingup - 20.8mm
• Millendon - 20.0mm
• Perth Airport - 16.0mm
• Gingin Airport - 13.0mm
• Perth City - 13.8mm

💨 Some of the strongest wind gusts recorded during the event:

• 135km/h at Cape Naturaliste - 5:33pm (NEW MAY RECORD)
• 133km/h at Cape Leeuwin - 4:56pm
• 120km/h at Busselton Jetty - 6:39pm
• 108km/h at Jerdacuttup - 11:42pm
• 107km/h at Ravensthorpe - 10:47pm
• 106km/h at Garden Island - 7:58pm (NEW MAY RECORD)
• 104km/h at Mandurah - 8:07pm
• 104km/h at Mount Barker - 7:28pm
• 100km/h at Jandakot Airport - 8:14pm (NEW MAY RECORD)
• 98km/h at Dwellingup - 8:08pm
• 96km/h at Cowaramup - 10:06pm
• 93km/h at Perth Airport - 7:00pm
• 91km/h at Esperance Airport - 2:11am

Speaking of Esperance, it's now their turn to cop the rough end of the stick. While conditions aren't expected to be quite as severe as what the South West and Lower West experienced, squally showers moving through today could still produce wind gusts pushing 100km/h or more in isolated pockets.

A massive thank you to everyone who sent photos, videos, observations and reports throughout the event. It certainly kept us busy.

As for all the keyboard meteorologists who spent the week telling us "nothing will happen", "it's calm at my house", and "media hype"... I won't be checking in on you this morning.

I'm sure it was sunshine, rainbows and perfectly calm conditions at your place while trampolines were applying for interstate relocation permits and weather stations were questioning their career choices.

I'll try and put together a full event recap later today once I've had a chance to sort through the mountain of observations, photos, videos and broken trampoline reports.

Stay safe legends 🍻🌧️💨
