We’ve got two major project partnerships happening in Leseuer National Park this year.
At the start of this month our Rangers and Elders joined Curtin University researchers on the first of these projects. It’s definitely the right time of year!
A special few days spent On Country at Lesueur National Park, bringing together Yued Elders, Rangers and our project partners from Curtin University to share knowledge, stories and connection to Country. 🌿❤️💛🖤
Over the three days, we spent time On Country identifying and discussing biocultural indicators, with Elders sharing knowledge about Country, plants, animals, seasonal changes and the relationships between them. A big part of the project was verbal knowledge transfer, creating space for Elders to share their knowledge and experiences directly with Yued Rangers and the project team, helping carry that knowledge forward for future generations.
The knowledge gathered will contribute to the development of a Yued-led Biocultural Landscape Plan for Lesueur National Park, helping ensure Yued knowledge, values and priorities are recognised in the future care and management of Country.
A huge thank you to our Elders for sharing their time and knowledge, our Yued Rangers, the Curtin University team and everyone who helped bring the week together. Plenty more work still to come, but a really meaningful step forward for the Yued community. 🌱
