Join Nigel Ridgway at Westcoast Community Centre on Thursday morning (20 August, 10am) for a humorous look at his first few months in Australia as a Pommie migrant. As a "£10 Pom", he first worked in Queensland as a builders’ labourer - gaining a love of Aussie slang after meeting some real characters! This is a light-hearted look at Oz from a young migrant’s perspective. Bookings open online - or simply turn up a few minutes early and book in on the day.

The team at Perth Zoo has a vaccination trial underway for the three threatened species of black cockatoo - which is great news. Westcoast Community Centre will be hosting Dean Arthurell, CEO of Carnaby's Crusaders, on Tuesday 18 August (10 - 11.15am) to update us on practical ways we can all help protect Carnaby’s Black Cockatoos and support their recovery. He'll be accompanied by rescued Carnaby’s and Forest Red-tailed Black Cockatoos - so do come along to meet these remarkable birds up close and learn more about the challenges they face in the wild.
Book online or simply turn up a few minutes early on the day. https://westcoastcommunity.com.au
