We've had a fun crew from the Kingswood TAFE 'Screen and Media' class join us this week under the tutelage of the great Nick Bleszynski 🤠

Nick has over 40 years experience worldwide working in broadcast television with the BBC, ABC, Channel 7, National Geographic, the Discovery Channel etc, while also being a best-selling author and a mighty fine bloke!

We love blokes like our mate Bob from Queensland who makes these wooden toys in his shed for us and brings them down when he visits his mates in Penrith, to bless kids here who wouldn't normally have toys like this.

💙 We launched our ‘Fresh Start Go!’ program after joining the Nepean Domestic Violence Network over nine years ago, to support identified needs in every other Penrith front-line Domestic, Family & Sexual Violence service, in addition to our own DV Crisis Accommodation.

💙 Every week since, we provide practical support (food, groceries, clothing, toys, baby items, furniture, Christmas hampers, art supplies, HomeStart packages and all kinds of random things when able) to one or more of our local partners (eg The Haven, DV West, Penrith Women’s Health Centre, Springfield Cottage, etc).

💙 In 2019 we adapted the printed NDVN Directory of Services booklet for online use and we host it annually for local service use at www.NepeanDV.org

💙 As always - We thank our incredible Community for your generous support to make these things happen.

💥From humble beginnings many years ago, our Penrith City CareKits program today resources a ‘local army’ of Hospital Social Workers, Case Managers, School Welfare staff, Mental & Aboriginal Health teams, Community Correction services and many more with a wide range of CareKits, clothing, underwear, period products, baby items, and much, much more!

💥Of course this is only possible thanks to the extraordinary support from our very generous Community!

Ten years ago we launched the Nepean HomeStart program to support local people coming out of chronic homelessness.

Not only has this always been a great need, but research confirms that when done well this can reduce future homelessness for those people.

The process involves frontline Housing and DV Workers verifying and applying to WestCare on behalf of the clients who have signed local tenancies to provide basic ‘HomeStart’ kits and donated furniture when available to help set up their new homes.
This has proved very effective since 2016, and last year we helped establish over FIFTY local families - a record.

And a Huge Shout-out to Panthers Penrith who have funded this vital local program for the past two years!
