This week 97 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 16 were first timers and 6 recorded new Personal Bests.

National Week of Deaf People (NWDP)

This morning 89 parkrunners participated on our Cross Country Course and it certainly was a morning where zooper doopers were appreciated as the morning warmed up.

We welcomed visitors from Cooks River and Liverpool. Five parkrunners recorded Personal Bests and eight parkrunners attended Penrith Lakes parkrun for the first time. Three new parkrunners - Matilda Dorrell, Emma Moore and Margaret Gibson participated in their first parkrun ever - welcome and enjoy your parkrun journey. Representatives from nine different clubs took part.

Congratulations to Brett Beath on his 50th milestone - Brett is a CODA (Child of Deaf Adult) and it was fitting he achieved his 50th parkrun on the last day of our National Week of Deaf People (NWDP).

I am extremely grateful to my team of volunteers tears who gave up their time for this morning’s event to happen:-

As mentioned in my briefing thank you for opening your hearts and hands to welcome our Deaf community every Saturday to parkrun. Penrith Lakes parkrun has become a place where we all belong. Thank you.

Tomorrow is Saturday morning and you guessed it - parkrunday!

As an event is taking place at the Regatta, we will be participating on our Cross Country Course. Please allow extra time to get to parkrun - enter thru Gate A off Old Castlereagh Road - if you are stopped by staff at the gate please tell them you are here for parkrun - do not pay any parking fee. Once you enter the gates turn right where you will see our orange volunteers who will guide you where to park and walk the 700 metres to the start line. Map is in comments.

Tomorrow is expected to be a warm morning so please remember to bring heaps of water and to hydrate.

* When you enter the Regatta Centre grounds please drive slowly and keep to the speed limit of 20km.
* Dogs are welcome on a short hand-held leash (one dog per person).
* Children under 11 require an adult to be within arms reach at all times.
* Children in prams are welcome.
* Only a pram or dog is permitted per person - not pram and dog together.
* Bikes and scooters are not allowed.

This week is the National Week of Deaf People (NWDP), the International Week of Deaf People (WDP) and the International Day of Sign Languages (IDSL).

Penrith Lakes parkrun wishes to acknowledge our Deaf parkrunners as they take the opportunity to celebrate their communities, language, culture and history during the week.

To celebrate that special week on Saturday, 26th September 2026, our parkrun event will be held under the direction of our Deaf Run Director, Margaret Johnston. A group of Deaf parkrunners will be volunteering in various roles. If you want to experience a unique parkrun please come along and celebrate with our Deaf parkrunners. An Auslan interpreter will be present to verbally translate the messages for everyone who does not understand Auslan.

Hope to see you on Saturday morning. There are a few volunteer positions available.
