Recently we sponsored the 70th Anniversary of Soldiers Point RFB, who hosted a celebration with current and previous members, their families and supporters to mark the occasion. Over 80 guests were in attendance to mark the milestone and reflect on the Brigade's seven decades of service including traditional firefighting, road accidents and even support via a fire boat. RFSA regularly sponsors events that thank our members and celebrates their contributions to the community.

It was fantastic to catch up with Bella and Julia from the Mid Murray Zone Women in Fire at AFAC Conference. We think they're doing an excellent job supporting and encouraging women within the RFS and congratulate them on receiving the 2026 Women and Firefighting Australasia Excellence in Inclusion Award!

State Council Saturday 22 August

We had some passionate discussions at the latest RFSA State Council held over the weekend, including Clean Firefighter Project, Fire Trails, Get Ready Weekends, planning for upcoming Family Days and much more. During the meeting Geoff Ryan (Chifley Lithgow District Group Officer) was elected to the RFSA Board as a new Director, replacing outgoing member Jason Lewington. We were also very pleased to hear from RFSA Scholarship recipient Kylie Trueber (Parkes HQ Brigade) who recently completed her Advanced Diploma in Public Safety (Emergency Management). We also successfully held our AGMs.

At our Board meeting this afternoon, Directors devoted a lot of time to considering grant applications.

In all, 16 grants were approved for Brigades across the state – from the Northern Rivers down to Southern Border.

Our grants program is just one of the ways the RFSA supports our members to protect the community.

We're pleased to see Kyogle HQ RFB with a new shed for their generator made possible through an RFSA Grant. We are proud to support RFS members and enhance their experience of the Service through our Grant Scheme, Scholarships, Family Days, RFSA Welfare Fund and much more.

We were really happy to attend the inaugural Shoalhaven District Young Members Muster on 1 August. It was fantastic to see young members come together to learn, collaborate and share their ideas. We're looking forward to what comes next from this enthusiastic Young Members Group.
