The ABS (Australian Bureau of Statistics) is currently hiring Field Managers and Mobile Field Representatives across the Penrith LGA to assist with the census in August this year.

• Field Managers have an important job leading Census work in their local area. They recruit, train and manage a team of Field Officers to ensure high quality data collection. Applications open from 28 January 2026.

• Mobile Field Representatives travel within their region, helping Census field teams who need extra support on the ground. This includes visiting households, distributing and collecting Census forms and promoting online participation. Applications open from 9 February 2026.

Thank you to all who attended the TCG Inc., Hobby Hub Gals and Morton Christmas BBQ last night! We were lucky to get in ahead of the rain and hope everyone enjoyed the BBQ, ice creams, entertainment from Penrith Harmony Choir, and visits not just from Santa, but also from the Grinch!😅 This is a great community and the connection-building happens in many ways - this was just one of them. Thank you to everyone involved.

We wish to advise that a reporter from Nepean News will be at the railway lift on the north side of the station (Thornton Estate side) at 9:30 am tomorrow – Friday 10 October 2025. They will be putting together an article about the lift being out of order too often, how it affects us and how we need this matter resolved.

The reliability of this lift not only affects our residents with mobility issues, but also parents with children in prams, the frail and elderly, and people arriving or departing with luggage, just to name a few.
When this lift is out of action, there is no alternative to get onto the station platforms, across to the shops, or for appointments on the other side unless you have a car or can walk or ride the long way around – either via Castlereagh Road or Lemongrove Road. And yet Thornton Estate is sold as a place to live with easy access to trains, buses and shops.

To help us get support to have this matter resolved, we encourage all to attend tomorrow morning and put forward the problems you encounter when the lift is out of order to help the reporter from Nepean News present our story as effectively as possible.
