The 2026 Census is set to take place on Tuesday 11 August. If you’ve never really understood how or why we have a Census, this YouTube video is a brief but clear explanation of the reasons why we should all take part: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r17eNW41DoY

The ABS (Australian Bureau of Statistics) has commenced recruitment for Community Field Officer roles for the 2026 Census. If you're interested in a temporary position which will help support people in the community to take part in the Census, particularly those who may need extra help or face language or access barriers, then this is a great opportunity for individuals who enjoy engaging with people and making a difference locally.

Key details are:
• Applications opened 12th May 2026
• First round of applications closes 1st June 2026
• Flexible, casual work with a pay rate of $34.11 per hour (inclusive of casual loading), plus superannuation
• Work expected to commence from June or August through to October 2026

The ABS (Australian Bureau of Statistics) is currently hiring Field Managers and Mobile Field Representatives across the Penrith LGA to assist with the census in August this year.

• Field Managers have an important job leading Census work in their local area. They recruit, train and manage a team of Field Officers to ensure high quality data collection. Applications open from 28 January 2026.

• Mobile Field Representatives travel within their region, helping Census field teams who need extra support on the ground. This includes visiting households, distributing and collecting Census forms and promoting online participation. Applications open from 9 February 2026.

Thank you to all who attended the TCG Inc., Hobby Hub Gals and Morton Christmas BBQ last night! We were lucky to get in ahead of the rain and hope everyone enjoyed the BBQ, ice creams, entertainment from Penrith Harmony Choir, and visits not just from Santa, but also from the Grinch!😅 This is a great community and the connection-building happens in many ways - this was just one of them. Thank you to everyone involved.
