A therapist recently confessed something surprising. After 25 years in the field, he found himself checking in with AI before trusting his own decisions, and didn't notice until a friend called it out.

His theory is that we're not really craving the technology. We're craving what we lost when villages gave way to busy, disconnected lives. AI is always there and never in a hurry, so it's easy to lean on.

Something to think about next time you'd rather ask a chatbot than call a friend.

When John, 32, first stepped into CatholicCare’s Back on Track Men’s Behaviour Change Program, he didn’t come willingly – and he certainly didn’t come with hope. Referred by Community Corrections and under court orders, John was a long way from accepting the impact of his violent behaviour.

Explore the men's behaviour change program that helped John find accountability and transform his life after adversity.

This National Carers Week, we acknowledge the many people who provide care in our community.

Caring for someone often means balancing a lot behind the scenes. We recognise the time, effort and commitment that carers give every day.

Thank you for all that you do!

Mental health touches every part of who we are. At CatholicCare we see this every day in the families, individuals and communities we walk alongside, and we believe no one should carry a hard season alone.

If you are struggling, please know it is OK to ask for help. Reaching out is not a sign of weakness. It is often the first and hardest step toward feeling better, and one that takes real courage.

This World Mental Health Day (10 October), we want to remind our community that support is here. Whether you need someone to talk to, information about services, or simply a place to start, our team is ready to listen.

If you or someone you love needs support, call us on 1800 324 924 or email [email protected]

For Nina, her workplace became more than just a job, it was a rare pocket of safety in an otherwise controlled and frightening world. It was the only place where she could speak openly with her Case Worker, free from surveillance and intimidation. In this safe space, she regained control, set goals and took the crucial steps to leave her perpetrator and start a new life.

Explore Nina's journey from domestic violence to empowerment, discovering how support can lead to freedom and a new life.

Finding the right home for clients starts with understanding the people, environment and supports on offer.

At Spirit, powered by CatholicCare, we offer a range of housing supports to those living with disability. We don’t provide a one-size-fits-all solution. These are a long-term homes built around client goals, and support needs.

With three disability accommodation vacancies currently available, we'd love to welcome Support Coordinators, families and other referral partners to our upcoming open homes.
Point Frederick | Tuesday 20 October | 2.00pm – 4.00pm
Toukley | Tuesday 21 October | 11.00am – 1.00pm
North Manly | Tuesday 4 November | 11.00am – 1.00pm

Drop in anytime to meet our team, tour the homes, gain insight into the existing household dynamics and discuss potential matches for participants you support. Participants and family members are also welcome to attend and explore whether one of these homes may be the right fit for their future.

Please note: SDA & SIL funding is required.

We're often our own worst critic. Quick to focus on what didn't get done, slower to notice what did.

But take a real look back at your month, the moments you showed up for someone, the small wins, the things you pushed through. At CatholicCare we see this in the people we support every day. You'll probably find more to be proud of than you think.

We came across The 100 Project recently and couldn't stop watching. They travel around Australia filming interviews with centenarians, asking about love, war, family, luck and everything in between. The answers are funny and often surprising, less "words of wisdom" and more real people telling it straight. It's a lovely reminder of why we love the work we do alongside older people in our communities. Worth a few minutes of your day to meet a few of them.

"Even just one of these children."

That's the theme Pope Leo XIV has chosen for this year's World Day of Migrants and Refugees (Sunday 27 September), drawing our attention to the millions of children forced from their homes by war, poverty and violence.

The Holy Father's message is a call to see every migrant child as one of our own, and to build communities that welcome, protect and truly include them.
