A leader and mentor for many of Penguin’s leaders and members over the years. Thank you “Skip” we’ll continue to “pull our fingers out”

It is with great sadness 😥 that we wish to let you all know that after a short illness, Ken, "Dicko" or "Skip" to so many of you, has past away peacefully last Friday evening.

Dicko was the founder of our group nearly 60 years ago.

Our lives have been so greatly enriched to have had him with us. He has been a mentor to so many and a source of encouragement for us to "Do Our Best" in our pursuits in life.. Dicko passed on his skills and wealth of knowledge to so many youth members and adults of our community.

Facebook says it’s only been 4 years! All these kids have since moved on. They were having a camp at Pioneer Park Riana to complete some service, cleaning up and spreading a LOT of soft fall. And spreading new grass on the fire pot burns.

What a fantastic and worthwhile experience! Today we helped Penguin Rehab and Release, return 4 Little Penguins to the wild. We supplied the Scout Safety boat to enable the cute little penguins to be released on the sea side of Goat Island at day break. These volunteers do a fantastic job helping to rehabilitate sick or injured penguins on the NW Coast.

Last week Penguin Sea Scouts spent their scouting time collecting rubbish from our beautiful foreshore for clean up Australia Day. This week they will be fishing and learning about safety on the water.

Any clues to who?

Penguin Scouts on Mt. Duncan.
Based on some research using Scouts’ journals and Trove newspaper reports, the following is a list of boys involved at that time -
Peter Ruffels, Fred Jones, Noel Revell, G Blight, Rex Ray, Glen Fielding.
The Asst Scout Master (back left hand corner) was Allan Good, home from university studies. Front right hand corner is Trevor Dunham. Other surnames associated with the Scouts were Ling & Revell.
