🌿🐱 CAT’S CLAW CREEPER BEWARE! 🐱🌿

One of the biggest threats to our beautiful Wistaria Gardens isn’t drought or storms, it’s Cat’s Claw Creeper.

Despite its innocent name, this invasive vine can quickly smother trees, damage heritage landscapes and outcompete native plants. Left unchecked, it can climb into tree canopies and overwhelm entire sections of the garden.

Today our dedicated volunteers spent time removing Cat’s Claw Creeper and clearing areas of the gardens. It’s hard work, but every vine removed helps restore the health and beauty of this special place.

There’s still plenty more to do. Our long-term goal is to reopen views to the water, improve sightlines through the gardens and create more opportunities for Wisteria to flourish and reclaim its rightful place in the landscape.

A huge thank you to everyone who volunteered their time today. Together we’re helping restore one of Parramatta’s hidden gems for future generations to enjoy. 💚

Lovers of Parramatta’s Edwardian Gardens 🌿💚

Today our wonderful volunteers rolled up their sleeves to carry out maintenance on our feature garden, before moving down to the water’s edge to tackle a serious patch of weeds. Along the way we had an unexpected encounter with a baby red-bellied black snake, which sadly met an unintentional demise during the work.

It was great to welcome some new faces who joined us as part of our Valentine weekend event. A big thank you to Ned for the delicious homemade cakes and biscuits that made morning tea extra special. 🍰☕️

We’ll be back again Sunday 15 March — hope to see you there!

🌿Volunteer Garden Sundays –First meet for 2026🌿

We’re really looking forward to welcoming everyone to our first garden meet-up of 2026 and getting to know some new faces along the way. Whether you’ve volunteered before or you’re joining us for the very first time, you’ll be warmly welcomed.

A little rain won’t stop us 🌦️—so don’t let the weather put you off. Just bring along a pair of gardening gloves, and we’ll have small tools ready to share on the day.

It’s a relaxed, friendly morning in a beautiful setting, helping care for the gardens, meeting like-minded people, and starting the year by giving back to a special place.
