Parramatta Mission

Parramatta Mission We stand alongside people in our community doing it tough.

Opening our doors to provide meals, support services, housing assistance, and hope for those experiencing homelessness, disadvantage, domestic & family violence, and social isolation. The Mission’s broader history can be traced back to the opening of the first Wesleyan Methodist Chapel on the current head office site in 1821. Parramatta Mission’s expansive community programs were born out of the e

arly Wesleyan’s ethos of outreach, community and inclusiveness. Today, Parramatta Mission is one of the largest providers of community mental health services in New South Wales, as well as one of the largest providers of community services to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in Western Sydney. The Mission’s programs are delivered from multiple sites across Greater Sydney, extending to the Central Coast, beyond the Blue Mountains, Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs and Liverpool.

Winter is now upon us and for many in our community it brings added pressure - colder nights, rising costs and a growing sense of isolation. For those already facing uncertainty, this season can be the most overwhelming time of the year.

Demand for support at Parramatta Mission has grown by more than 40% over the past 12 months. More people are reaching out for help and connection as everyday challenges become harder to navigate.

Our new EOFY video offers a glimpse into what this looks like, the many faces behind the rising need, the support our team provide and the impact your generosity can make.

Today is World Hunger Day and it's one of key importance for us.

Through our Meals Plus program, we serve and support over 300 people across Western Sydney each weekday. A meal can be the starting point of a conversation, the beginning of trust and often the first step towards someone finding the support they need to move forward.

We are especially grateful to the Lions Hunger Hero Club for their generous support of 300kg of rice to our community today. That is a lot of meals and a lot of moments that matter.

This National Reconciliation Week, we celebrate the strength, culture and leadership of First Nations peoples.

We acknowledge the harm of the past and we choose to work towards a future built on respect, truth and genuine partnership.

At Parramatta Mission, we sit on the land of the Burramattagal people of the Darug nation. We are “all in” for reconciliation, listening, learning and creating spaces where First Nations voices are valued and heard.

We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in our community.

As the weather gets colder, not everyone has access to the essential items needed to stay warm. ❤️

From Monday 25 May, Heart of Wenty will be running our annual Parramatta Mission Winter Appeal, and we’re inviting our Members and Guests to help support those in need this winter.

We’re collecting new and gently pre-loved winter essentials (clean and in good condition), including:
🧥 Warm clothing
🛏️ Blankets
🧣 Scarves
🧢 Beanies
🧤 Gloves
🧦 Socks

Every donation, big or small, can make a meaningful difference and help bring warmth and comfort to someone doing it tough this season.

Drop your donations at the Club and help us support our local community this winter. 🤍

Please ensure all preloved clothing items have been recently washed or dry cleaned and are in good condition, with no stains, holes, tears or mould.

This week is National Volunteer Week, and this year's theme is Your Year to Volunteer. We celebrated the best way we know how with bowling! 🎳

Every single day, our volunteers are the hands and feet of Parramatta Mission. They are the beating heart that ensures our community is looked after, supported and never alone. The work we do simply would not be possible without them showing up, week after week, with generosity and care that never gets old.

Yesterday, we took our incredible volunteer team bowling, a tradition we look forward to every year, made possible by the wonderful support of Parramatta Leagues Club. Thank you for creating a space where we can celebrate the people who give so much of themselves to others. It means the world.

To every single one of our volunteers, thank you. We are so grateful for everything you do. ❤

Parramatta Mission is such an integral part of this city.

From MealsPlus, to fortnightly Community Hubs, to community outreach and accomodation for those caring for loved ones in hospital - Parramatta Mission is always there.

At last Friday's annual fundraiser, A Place At The Table, I was so pleased to present a cheque to Parramatta Mission for $35,000 from the Premier's Discretionary Fund.

Last year I took Premier Chris Minns to visit during meal service and we saw first hand the incredible contributions the Parramatta Mission team and volunteers make to people's lives every single day.

Thank you.

A Place at the Table 2026 was everything we hoped for, and for the first time, every seat at the table was filled.

To everyone who joined us, thank you for bringing your presence and heart to an evening grounded in one simple belief: dignity belongs to everyone.

A heartfelt thank you to our presenting partner Wenty Leagues and community partner Ray White Commercial Western Sydney for your belief in this event and your ongoing support of our work.

Thank you to Orlando Sydney Corporate Photography for beautifully capturing the magic of the evening. We’re also incredibly grateful to our in-kind supporters: Australian Turf Club, Dooleys Lidcombe Catholic Club, La Vie Hotels & Resorts, the talented musicians from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music courtesy of Funk’d and Unito Property Group.

We are hugely grateful to Donna Davis MP for attending and presenting, on behalf of the Premier of NSW, two grants in support of Parramatta Mission’s work. Your recognition means so much to our team and the people we serve.

To the Lord Mayor of Parramatta Martin Zaiter and the councilors who joined us on the night, thank you for your support and presence.

At Parramatta Mission, there will always be a place at the table. Thank you for helping us create a night to remember.

A meal arrived, along with a handwritten note.

Through Kids Giving Back, we often receive meals prepared by thoughtful young people, each one including a simple message of care.

Recently, one of those notes reached someone who needed it more than we could have known. They came back the next day to tell us it had made a real difference during a very difficult moment, a reminder that they mattered.

We’re sharing this gently, as a reminder that small acts of kindness can carry real weight.

To every young person who has written one of these notes - thank you. What you do in our community is extraordinary 💛
