This fun, laid-back event aims to bring teens together to connect with others who understand their journey, learn more about transitioning into adulthood and adult healthcare services, and enjoy activities in a safe and supportive environment.

Highlights of the day include:

When we’re not by the bedside, here’s a little glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes as a HeartKids Support Coordinator. ❤️
From hospital morning teas and restocking the hospital pantry, to packing care bags, coordinating referrals, preparing resources, connecting with families and responding to enquiries — it all helps families get the support they need, when they need it.
Our Support Coordinators provide practical, emotional and guidance to families navigating childhood-onset heart disease (CoHD).
Whether it’s a new diagnosis, hospital admission or ongoing treatment, we’re here to help families feel supported, informed and connected every step of the way. ❤️

As a proud partner of Murdoch Children's Research Institute - MCRI, we are thrilled to celebrate this incredible research breakthrough!

MCRI researchers have successfully created human heart valve tissue from stem cells, closely resembling the real tissue found in the human body.

This exciting research could help scientists better understand how heart valves develop, mature and become damaged, while paving the way for new approaches to repairing damaged valves and potentially helping children with heart defects avoid repeated surgeries to replace them in future.

A remarkable step forward for heart research and an exciting glimpse into what the future could hold for our HeartKids community ❤️

Melbourne researchers have grown the world’s most advanced heart valve in a lab using stem cells, a breakthrough that could transform treatment for millions of patients.

The lab-grown valve will initially help scientists study how heart disease develops, but could one day lead to tailor-made replacement valves for patients.
