Legion of Mary - St Pat's Cathedral

Legion of Mary - St Pat's Cathedral The Legion of Mary is a Catholic Association of lay people, who aim to grow in holiness themselves, and to spread their faith with others in the community.

The Legion of Mary is a world wide Catholic organisation whose aim is missionary. Legionaries aim to grow in holiness themselves through prayer and devotion to Mary, and then to share what we have with others in the community through carrying out good works. Legionaries do all their work in the spirit of Mary and try to imitate her humility, prayer and obedience to God. There are two forms of memb

ership in the Legion of Mary: Active and auxiliary. Active members attend a weekly meeting, which is held at 9:30am on Saturday Mornings in Murphy House next to St Patrick's Cathedral. The meeting involves prayer, spiritual reading and discussion, reporting on works done and other general business. Active Legionaries also do two hours of active work per week. The work is varied, and involves works such as: home to home visitation, nursing home visitation, conducting catechism classes and distributing Miraculous Medals and other devotional items. Auxiliary members are our praying members. They do not attend the meeting or do the active work. They pray the prayers of the Legion, and the Rosary daily. They are important as they are the prayer support for the active Legionaries. The Legion of Mary is a group for people of all ages and is open to both males and females.
