Supporting Toileting for Students with Down Syndrome:
A Workshop for Educators

Educators are warmly invited to join Supporting Toileting for Students with Down Syndrome: A Workshop for Educators, a practical and supportive session led by Renee Collins of Super Kids Behavioural Consulting.

Toileting can be one of the more challenging areas to navigate at school, and this workshop offers practical, real-world strategies to help you respond with confidence and consistency. We’ll explore how to support students with Down syndrome through resistance, anxiety, accidents, and varying routines between home and school, always with a focus on dignity, independence, and positive learning experiences.

You’ll leave with clear, classroom-ready strategies and greater confidence in working collaboratively with families and professionals to support each student’s success.

We were deeply honoured to present the Legacy Award to The Whittingham Family at this year's Donor and Supporter Event held at Government House.

This award recognises their remarkable lifetime of generosity and unwavering commitment to the Down Syndrome NSW community. Their long-standing support has created a lasting legacy that continues to positively impact families across NSW.
Thank you for your incredible and enduring contribution.

Every family remembers those early days. The questions. The uncertainty. The hope for what comes next.

For Leo's family, support from Down Syndrome NSW meant they didn't have to navigate that journey alone. Through trusted guidance, connection, and a community that understood, they found the confidence to move forward.

As we reach the halfway point of our End of Financial Year Appeal, we're asking for your help to ensure more families can access the programs, resources, advocacy, and community that make such a lasting difference.

Your donation could help provide information and support following a diagnosis, connect families with others on the same journey, and ensure children with Down syndrome have every opportunity to thrive.

We’re halfway there, but there’s still more families to reach 💙

At the end of tax time, your support helps children with Down syndrome and their families access advocacy, education, connection, and early intervention during the years that matter most.

Your donation could help fund inclusive social and community programs that build confidence, friendships, and connection.

To everyone who has donated so far, thank you. Your generosity is already helping families across NSW feel more supported and less alone.

If you haven’t yet donated, there’s still time to help us reach our goal before June 30 --> https://loom.ly/8E0GxZg

Down Syndrome NSW recently met with Annie from the Australian Bureau of Statistics to talk about the 2026 Census.

We spoke about the right of people with Down syndrome to be part of the Census process, and the different ways people may need support to take part.

This included talking about the different living arrangements of people with Down syndrome, including family homes, and different independent living arrangements, as well as group homes, and how their experience and involvement must be supported in all of these.

We discussed how Census information is received, who may need help to access it, and how families, carers and support workers can support people to complete the form in a way that includes their voice and choices.

We also talked about information already available on the ABS website for people with disability and carers, including Easy Read versions of fact sheets, and how Pop Up Hubs across the country, where people can take the form to get help are a great way to support the process.

Annie was really interested in the way the ABS can assist Pop Up Hub staff and other staff to support and communicate with people with Down syndrome, and we shared examples of communication tools, including our Key Word Sign cards and the Council for Intellectual Disability conversation cards.

Thank you Annie and the Australian Bureau of Statistics for reaching out to find out how to support better access and inclusion in the Census.
