Heartbeat of Football

Heartbeat of Football Promoting heart health through sport There is a tendency to focus on heart issues only after a tragedy, however Heartbeat of Football aims to change this.

In Australia, it is believed there have been 10 cases of heart-related deaths of amateur football players in the past two years, with the latest on a Sunday morning in January 2016. As ever-increasing members of the community see the benefits of, and enjoy taking part in, amateur sport, Heartbeat of Sport is proactive in both education to prevent heart-related events, and in procuring the necessar

y equipment (in the form of defibrillators) to help prevent deaths following on-field heart incidences.

FUNDRAISING

Heartbeat of Football (HOF) is constantly fundraising so as to allow the purchase of defibrillators for placement on sporting grounds around the country. Men’s Health Week | 15–21 June 💙

This Men’s Health Week is especially meaningful for us as we celebrate 10 years of Heartbeat of Football (and Sport).

Across the week, we're delivering 10 activations that bring heart health, nutrition and lifesaving education directly to communities:

📍 3 States
❤️ 4 Sports [Baseball | AFL | Soccer | Rugby League]
🏢 2 Workplaces
🤝 7 Sporting Clubs

Why does men's health matter? Because men continue to experience higher rates of preventable disease, are less likely to seek help early, and remain disproportionately affected by cardiovascular disease—the leading cause of death in Australia.

One of the key goals of Men’s Health Week is to break down barriers that prevent men from accessing healthcare. Encouraging regular check-ups, open conversations, and lifestyle changes can lead to earlier detection of health issues and improved overall well-being.

For 10 years, we've been working to start conversations, encourage proactive health checks, and empower communities with the skills and confidence to save lives.

10 years. 10 activations. Goal: healthier hearts and healthier men.
