August is Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Awareness Month. Living with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), Belinda never saw herself as someone with limitations. “I’ve always tried to push myself and prove that I can do things, even if my arms and legs don’t work properly.”

At Muscular Dystrophy Australia, we're proud to support the SMA community by raising awareness, fostering understanding, and celebrating the stories of people living with SMA. Together, we can help build a more inclusive and supportive future.

Read how Belinda, a disability housing advocate, actor, and Boccia athlete living with SMA, found connection, confidence, and community through sport. https://mda.org.au/muscular-dystrophy/posts/belindas-journey-finding-her-place

We had a blast at Camp MDA: Connecting Little Legends last week, a school holidays program designed especially for children aged 6-11 with neuromuscular conditions.

The morning was spent on a pirate-themed ocean adventure 🏝️ facilitated by the Mini BOSS Incursions. In the afternoon, we worked together to create a boardgame! The end result was an outer space themed game, with black holes that made you skip a turn, shooting stars that shot you far ahead of your opponents, and aliens as the ultimate wildcard. 🌠

We can wait to see you all at our next Camp MDA: Connecting Little Legends event in September. Make sure to register here https://mda.org.au/camp-mda-connecting-little-legends
