“Excuse me… I believe I have a booking.” 🐾

We had a very important visitor drop by Urban Camp today. Dudley made himself right at home at reception, checked in on the team, accepted pats as payment, and boosted office morale by at least 300%.

Safe to say he’s welcome back anytime. 🧡

Was a delight to meet our local Federal Member for Melbourne, Sarah Witty MP. Sarah enjoyed our Disco n’ Glo, hearing about our 40 year history and how so many school and other community groups love our Urban Camp.

Charlie is one of the first to welcome groups as they arrive at Camp. Bags are dropped, teachers check in, and the plan for the evening takes shape, starting with a simple “welcome to camp” induction.

By this point, most groups have already spent the day in the city. Students are ready to reset. A well-structured arrival helps teachers keep things organised and running smoothly from the moment they walk through the gate. It’s a rhythm we’ve refined over years of hosting school groups.

Today’s for the mums who read the list, pack the bags, double check everything… and then let them go.

For many students, camp is their first real step into independence. And for a lot of mums, that’s a big moment. Congratulations on all your hard work, we’ve got them from here 💛

Not every student gets the chance to experience Melbourne. For many regional schools, the barriers are real, time, cost, and the complexity of getting around the city.

Staying close to the CBD changes that. Less time travelling, fewer logistics to manage, and more time for students to actually engage with what Melbourne has to offer. It’s why so many schools choose Urban Camp as their base.

Planning a Melbourne camp can feel completely upside down.
Too many venues. Too many logistics. Too many things to get wrong.

That’s where we come in. We sort the details so your group can actually enjoy the experience. See how much fun our staff had recently , you can too!

Camps give young people something increasingly rare. Time away from screens. Time with each other. Time to figure things out for themselves.

It’s not just a break from the classroom, it’s a learning built on shared experiences, teamwork and being outside their usual environment.

At Urban Camp, we see it every day. Confidence grows. Independence builds. And students return home with more than just memories.

Planning a group trip to Melbourne sounds simple… until it isn’t.

Multiple bookings.
Coordinating meals.
Trying to keep everyone on the same schedule.

That’s where most trips start to fall apart.

At Urban Camp, everything is designed for groups:
✔ Stay together
✔ Eat together
✔ Simple logistics

No splitting your group across hotels. No unnecessary stress.

In 2025, 180 groups stayed with us, including sporting, community, dance and church groups.

If you’re planning for the second half of 2026, 2027 or even 2028:

School camps don’t just benefit students. They support entire communities. The Australian Camps Association National Census shows the sector contributes $1.7 billion to the Australian economy and supports thousands of jobs nationwide.

At Urban Camp, that impact plays out on the ground. Each group that stays with us helps bring Melbourne to life, visiting places like Melbourne Zoo, Parliament House, the Melbourne Museum, the MCG and Scienceworks, often all within a single trip.

It’s not just a camp. It’s access to experiences many students wouldn’t otherwise have. Here is more info from the Census: https://auscamps.asn.au/about/latest-news/media-release-new-report-reveals-camps-are-vital
