Some stories need a bigger screen.

At IMAX Melbourne , students can explore topics from science and nature to history through giant-screen documentaries chosen to complement what they’re learning at school.

It’s also part of Melbourne Museum, making the two a natural pairing for a day in the city. Our programs team can help you plan an IMAX visit as part of your Urban Camp stay.

What can students learn by looking more closely at the world around them? 🌳☁️

In our NASA GLOBE Goes to Camp programme, students become young citizen scientists. They observe clouds or measure tree heights, record their findings and contribute data to a global research project.

It’s hands-on science they can do during their Urban Camp stay, with plenty of opportunities to compare observations and ask new questions.

What happens when students can test an idea instead of just reading about it? 🔬

At Scienceworks, your students can learn from interactive exhibitions, the Melbourne Planetarium or see a Lightning show. There are options for different year levels and learning goals, so it’s an easy place to build into a Melbourne camp with a science focus.

We loved having Newhaven College’s students and staff stay with us for their annual music camp! 🎶 We could hear their sound developing over the days as they rehearsed together. It’s amazing how much progress students can make with dedicated time to practise, listen and learn from one another. All the best for your Spring Concert!

A little screen-free time can bring a group together. 🎲

We’ve added new games to the rec room at Urban Camp, from Four in a Row and Sling Puck to Snakes and Ladders, Tic Tac Toe. Thanks to Brandon from Print & Plenty for making it such fun!

After a day exploring Melbourne, students can pull up a seat, challenge a friend and enjoy some downtime together.

Those numbers are hard to picture until you stand inside the stadium yourself. For students visiting Melbourne, an MCG tour is a chance to take in the scale of the ground and explore the stories behind some of sport’s biggest moments.

We’re heading to the National Education Summit Melbourne! 🌳🔬

Visit Urban Camp at Stand E24 on 3-4 September to discover NASA’s GLOBE Goes to Camp, Trees program.

This hands-on experience takes students beyond the classroom to explore Melbourne’s urban forest, measure trees and collect real environmental data that can be uploaded to the international GLOBE database.

What if your school camp could contribute to real global science? 🌳📱

Through Urban Camp’s Trees Around the GLOBE program, Primary School students become citizen scientists, investigating trees in Melbourne’s Royal Park, collecting environmental data and uploading their findings to NASA’s GLOBE database.

It’s a hands-on STEM experience that brings science out of the classroom and into the real world.
