UMSU Welfare

UMSU Welfare The Welfare Department of UMSU University of Melbourne Student Union Essentially, we cover everything at university that is outside education.

The Welfare Department of UMSU provides services and benefits to make campus life as inclusive and enjoyable as possible for all students at the University of Melbourne. We are responsible for connecting students, supporting students’ rights against discrimination and marginalisation, and promoting both physical and mental health awareness. Our main goals are to connect domestic and international

students, promote both physical and mental health awareness, and support students’ rights at work and during everyday life. Our three focus points this year include:

1. Establishing better connections between domestic and international students.
2. Actively promoting both physical and mental health awareness to the student community.
3. Supporting and legitimising the rights of students at work and during everyday life. If you come across any issues, from work place bullying to campus discrimination, a good first step is to ask the Welfare department. We can direct you to a relevant service, and we're here to provide as much support as possible. Feel free to email us at [email protected] or pop by our office on Level 1, Union House. As new partnerships secured by the 2026 team begin to roll out, we’re excited to announce that we will be increasing capacity on Wednesdays and Fridays from 200 to 250 to better meet the demand we have been seeing in recent weeks💓🥳

These days have consistently filled up the fastest, and this change will help more students access support when they need it most🛒

While we understand that other days can also reach capacity quickly, with limited resources, we have to prioritise where demand is highest for now, which is on Wednesdays and Fridays. We will continue to work hard to expand our partnerships to expand the support we can provide for students.❤️‍🔥
