MPIRO is a GSA organisation located at UniMelb which provides and promotes opportunities for graduate students and faculty interested in International Affairs and Relations. We’re happy that you have taken a keen interest in MPIRO and our core objectives for getting graduate students engaged in international relations. Just an important note we need to make about our membership requirements. We ha

ve two different types of membership at MPIRO: Full Membership and Associate Membership. To be a Full Member in our admin system, you need to be either one of the following:

Graduate student studying graduate coursework at the University of Melbourne,
Alumni from the University of Melbourne who has completed their graduate coursework,
Faculty from the University of Melbourne, who subscribes to the goals and values of our group. To be an Associate Member in our admin system, you need to be either one of the following:

Graduate student from another university studying graduate coursework,
Alumni who completed their graduate coursework at another university,
Faculty from another university who subscribes to the goals and values of our group,
Undergraduate students from any university,
Have a background/professional experience that suggests you are active in international relations. Some our club events are exclusively for Full Members only or are for members who study the Masters of International Relations at the University of Melbourne. We still host events that are open to all our members, and you are welcome to sign up your details at our events also. This means we advertise events as either one of the following:
‘Exclusive to All MPIRO Members’: Full and Associate Members
‘Exclusive to Full MPIRO Members Only’: Full Members Only
‘Exclusive to MIR MPIRO Members Only’: Full Members studying the MIR course at the UoM

Please be aware that we will be checking event registrations against details in our system, and we will reach out to you if there are any discrepancies or request that you sign up officially to attend. If you are unsure about your membership status, please email us at [email protected].

We are excited to announce our next MPIRO Trivia Night!

Join us on the 17th of April from 6:30 pm at the Quensberry Hotel in Carlton.

As always, we have prepared some tricky questions for you on all things IR and pop culture. Don't worry though! We will assign you a team so you can combine brainpower to take home the win. 🤝🧠

Questions will start 7 pm and we will finish up around 10 pm.

Join us at the Imperial Hotel to celebrate your amazing efforts in making it through another semester of essays, exams, and IR theory. We’ll also be taking a moment to say goodbye (not forever!) to those finishing up their MIR journey this semester (🥲)

And there’s good news! You asked and we listened - we’ve moved the date, so those braving the Asia and the World exam on Monday can enjoy the night stress-free.

So save the date - registration and more details are coming soon. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
