Over the weekend, our members travelled to Lismore for a Gasshuku.

Kenshinryu recently gave a demonstration at the Japan Festival Sunshine Coast hosted by JapanMates at Kawana Waters State College. We had lots of positive interactions with spectators and a nice day out. Various Kihon and Kata from the Shinto Muso Ryu syllabus as well as some Tachidori were shown, with plenty of gasps and applause from the crowd. A big thankyou to all who attended and we look forward to future opportunities for demonstrations.

Join Kenshinryu at the Japan Festival Sunshine Coast!

We’re excited to announce that Kenshinryu will be performing a demonstration and hosting a stall at the Japan Festival Sunshine Coast on Sunday 17 August 2025 — and we would love for our members, families, and friends to come along and support.

Event time: 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Our demo time: 2:35 PM – 2:55 PM)
Where: Kawana Waters State College, Sportsmans Parade, Bokarina QLD
Entry: $5 (Children free)

It’s a full day of amazing food, cultural performances, workshops, and family-friendly fun. A fantastic opportunity to share Shinto Muso Ryu and Aikido with the broader community and enjoy the vibrant spirit of Japanese culture.

The Palmwoods Dojo hosted the 2025 Winter Gasshuku this past weekend.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to making the weekend a success, especially those who travelled up from Lismore to join us. It was wonderful to see the effort, progress, and spirit on the mat throughout the event.

We are looking forward to the next Gasshuku, which will be held in Lismore later this year. Dates will be announced soon.

A heartfelt thank you to David Dangerfield Shihan for sharing his deep knowledge and insight at yesterday’s Uchida-Ryu Tanjojutsu seminar. It was an inspiring and enriching day that gave us all so much to reflect on and bring back into our own training.

Thank you also to everyone who attended — your presence, energy, and openness made the seminar truly special. Events like these remind us how powerful and connected the martial arts community can be.

We look forward to putting what we learned into practice and seeing you all on the mat again soon! 🥋
