The Daniel Morcombe Foundation was founded by parents Bruce and Denise Morcombe after their son Daniel was abducted in December 2003 while waiting to catch a bus on the Sunshine Coast. Today we would like to see a future where all children and young people are provided with education, protection and support to be safe from abuse and risk of harm.

Last Saturday night, members of our team had the privilege of attending the Annual Bravehearts Ball.

Bravehearts is dedicated to the prevention and treatment of child sexual abuse, working tirelessly to educate, empower and protect children across Australia. Their mission is to raise awareness, provide support to children and families, and advocate for safer communities for all children.

As an organisation that shares this commitment to keeping kids safe, it was an incredibly meaningful evening spent supporting such an important cause and standing alongside others who are dedicated to creating a safer future for children.

Thank you, Bravehearts, for the life-changing work you do every day. 💙

📢 Free webinar: Online safety for students in the age of AI and image-based violence
🗓️ Thursday, 11 June | 4:00 pm (online)

As technology evolves, so do the risks young people face online. Join us for a panel discussion on the challenges – and the safeguards – for keeping students safe in a world shaped by AI and image-based violence.

Facilitated by the Daniel Morcombe Foundation, with experts from RMIT, ICMEC Australia and Kids Helpline, this session gives educators practical tools to reduce risks and empower students.

We're proud to have our own Mhairi Underwood on the panel – a youth practitioner with over a decade of experience centring young people's voices in the resources she helps design at DMF.

The panel will explore:
✅ Recognising and supporting students at risk from image-based violence
✅ Empowering students and educators to prevent, respond to, and report incidents
✅ How emerging technologies and AI are reshaping online safety
✅ The barriers and enablers of help-seeking – and the pivotal role schools play
✅ Practical takeaways to integrate into everyday teaching

A massive shoutout to Goldfields Plastering & Construction and Franklands Plastering for stepping up to handle the internal plastering for the Build It For The Kids home.

Bruce was too excited to drop by and check out the incredible progress. He ran into Damien while he was hard at work. The two had a great chat about how the project is coming together… and we have to give a special nod to those leg stilts! Seriously impressive skills, Damien!

Huge thanks as always to the Murphy Group for leading the charge on this build and connecting us with phenomenal local businesses like Goldfields. Teamwork makes the dream work ❤️

Our National Education Manager Beth McNamara was interviewed by The Wire this week on a really important topic – child safety and deepfakes.

Following Australia's first criminal prosecution for creating sexually explicit deepfake images without consent, Beth shares why education, support for victims, and restorative justice all have a vital role to play alongside the legal response.

It's a 13-minute listen and well worth your time. 👇 🎧 https://www.thewire.org.au

What's shaping the way boys understand masculinity, relationships and power? 🧠

Online spaces are having a bigger influence than ever – and the messages boys encounter there aren't always healthy ones.

Join Dr Sophie King-Hill for Webinar 4 of our Bright Futures series, where she unpacks how harmful narratives around dominance and emotional restraint take hold, and what prevention-focused education can do about it.

Today is International Missing Children’s Day (IMCD) – a global day to remember missing children, honour those who have returned home safely, and continue efforts to find those still missing.

In Australia alone, more than 34,000 young people were reported missing to police in 2021. While most are found safe quickly, for some families the uncertainty can last a lifetime.

The symbol of IMCD is the forget-me-not flower, representing hope, remembrance and continued efforts to bring children home.
