The Daniel Morcombe Foundation was founded by parents Bruce and Denise Morcombe after their son Daniel was abducted in December 2003 while waiting to catch a bus on the Sunshine Coast. Today we would like to see a future where all children and young people are provided with education, protection and support to be safe from abuse and risk of harm.

In last week’s Bright Futures webinar, Professor Richard Wortley AM drew on interdisciplinary research to explore how online child sexual abuse can occur across a spectrum of behaviours, and what this means for prevention and response.

Richard shared emerging research into how relatively simple online interventions, including chatbots, pop-ups and warning messages, can interrupt searches for child sexual abuse material and for some users, encourage them to stop or seek help.

The discussion highlighted the importance of using layered strategies alongside existing law enforcement responses, including prevention and early intervention approaches that can help disrupt harmful behaviour at the point where it occurs.

A thoughtful conversation about what we can do to prevent and disrupt online child sexual abuse and reduce harm.

Join us for Webinar 6, where we’ll explore how we can engage with young people to ensure their voices, experiences and perspectives inform prevention and safeguarding efforts 👉 https://bit.ly/4zJuQC6

Progress Update: External Cladding Complete 🔨🏡

Huge milestone on the Build It For The Kids project. The external cladding is officially wrapped up!

A massive shoutout to Sam and Blake Thistleton, the father son duo from Brighter Building Concepts (contractors with Murphy Group). They made the drive down from Hervey Bay to lend their expertise and get the job done right.

This milestone wouldn't look half as good without the incredible generosity of James Hardie, who fully donated the premium cladding products for the build:
▫️ Axon - 133 Smooth for a crisp, modern finish
▫️ Hardie Fine Texture for seamless texture and depth
▫️ 4.5mm HardieFlex for the eaves lining

The home is looking sharper every single day thanks to this incredible community effort. On to the next stage!

📚✨ It's Book Week! ✨📚A wonderful time for our littlest learners to dress up and celebrate with our favourite cat Jelly, because every great story deserves a cuddly companion!

Whilst diving into imaginative worlds with our kids, it's also the perfect time to talk about staying safe in the real one.

‘Jelly Surprise!’ is an interactive child safety education book that gives children a simple introduction to understanding body clues, helping them recognise when they are feeling safe or unsafe.

Australia's Biggest Child Safety Lesson 2026 keeps child safety education relevant for today's young audience.

This year, ABCSL explores Safe Spaces, helping kids stay safe both in real-world and online spaces.

A little peek behind the scenes... 👀

🤖 ABCSL for Upper Primary follows three friends as they encounter different risks when using AI. Building critical thinking skills around AI-generated content, students are encouraged to question what AI presents them, protect their personal information and seek help from their safety team when they are unsure or don’t feel safe.

💻 This helps to strengthen students' digital literacy and understanding to question responses, seek evidence, and make informed decisions.

❤️ Register now for access to , and together we can empower children to Recognise, React and Report when they feel unsafe 👉 https://bit.ly/4bVTPrK
