This month marks an important change at Outlook Community Centre as we farewell Alison Ryan and welcome Nicole Wiehr as our new Community Centre Manager.

Alison is retiring after nearly 15 years as the much-loved and highly respected Manager of Outlook Community Centre. During this time, she has built strong and lasting connections across the Cardinia community and with the centre’s staff, volunteers, participants and visitors.

Her warmth, dedication and genuine care have helped shape the community centre into the welcoming and inclusive place it is today. Alison will be greatly missed, although we are delighted that she plans to return as a visitor to enjoy the centre’s workshops, courses and events in retirement.

As we thank Alison for her remarkable contribution, we are pleased to welcome Nicole to the Outlook team.

Nicole brings extensive experience across community services, disability and aged care, including leading community programs and supporting large teams and volunteer networks. She is passionate about building strong teams, creating positive cultures and ensuring services remain connected and responsive to the communities they support.

Thank you for everything, Alison. We wish you a very happy and well-earned retirement.

And welcome to Outlook, Nicole! We look forward to the next chapter for our beloved community centre with your leadership and support.

Craig and our team in Mackay have done it again! ♻️

Craig and Sheila recently visited Holy Spirit College Mackay to see the impact that donating recovered items from Refindit by Outlook - Mackay has had on the students' learning.

Our Refindit by Outlook teams across Victoria and Queensland are always looking for ways to build community partnerships that reduce waste, change the way we think about consumption and educate our younger generations on sustainable practices.

A partnership between Refindit by Outlook and Holy Spirit College is helping support learning and pathways for local students.

We’re pleased to welcome Shane Brooks to Outlook Australia as our new Contract Manager for our Banana Shire Council sites.

Shane brings extensive operational leadership experience across transport, logistics, heavy industry, fleet operations and civil environments. Most recently coordinating people, equipment, production and client requirements in an operational leadership role.

Shane describes his leadership style as leading from the front, with a strong focus on clear communication, accountability, safety and respect. It’s an approach that will serve him well as he gets to know the Banana team, our operations and our partners.

We’re looking forward to having Shane on board and supporting him as he settles into the role.

Welcome to the team, Shane!

Here’s a partnership with a difference!
Our Refindit by Outlook - Townsville team has found a rather creative outlet for excess bric-a-brac, plates, glassware and other items that might otherwise be difficult to move. They’re selling selected overstock to Demolition Den Townsville, where it gets a very different kind of second life… being smashed to pieces!

Demolition Den operates Townsville’s rage room, where individuals, groups and work teams can book a session, smash some stuff and apparently leave their worries behind in the process. It’s promoted as a fun activity for offices, families and friends, so our unwanted stock is certainly going out with a bang!

As part of the relationship, Demolition Den has also provided our local Outlook team with memberships giving them 25% off experiences. A very generous gesture and one that could prove particularly useful after a site visit from the boss!

This is a great little example of our teams finding creative partnerships, moving excess stock and building relationships within the local community.

💜💜 This Friday, we’re encouraging our Outlook community to wear a splash of purple in support of LGBTQIA+ young people.

Wear It Purple Day is a reminder that everyone deserves to feel safe, supported, respected and proud of who they are. A splash of purple might seem small, but it’s a visible way to show young people that they are seen, valued and included.

Dig out your purple shirt, scarf, socks, earrings or whatever you can find, and join us in showing support this Friday.

Let’s help create communities where everyone feels they belong. 💜

Outlook Australia is a registered NDIS provider with more than 50 years of experience delivering a range of supports across Melbourne’s south-east.

We’re small enough to provide tailored, personal support from a team you know and trust. But we’re big enough to offer the experience, reliable systems and back-up support you can count on when your needs change, the unexpected happens or you want to try something different.

A positive relationship with your support worker matters. So too do the experience, safeguards and systems behind that person.

A big congratulations to our Workers Education class, who passed their Safety Sign Observation module today!

The group has been building practical workplace skills and learning how to recognise and respond to important safety signage in different environments.

Well done to everyone for the effort, focus and teamwork you brought to the session. Another great achievement to add to the list!
