Who said volunteering was all serious business? 😜☕️🍰
Our Volunteer Afternoon Tea proved once again that our volunteers know how to have a good time!
There was plenty of laughing, chatting, a little bit of learning, some “well we will let the photos tell the story” moments 😂 and, of course, afternoon tea.
It’s a great reminder that volunteering at Padstow Community Care isn’t just about what we give to others — it’s also about the friendships, the fun, the connection and the wonderful people we get to do it all with. ❤️
We’re pretty lucky to have this bunch!

📸 September In the Flow! 🌿
What a great morning at our September In the Flow session with Vision PT! 💪
Our Move & Flow session was all about getting our bodies moving, trying some simple exercises and having a bit of fun along the way.
A big thank you to Riley from Vision PT for helping us get moving and showing us that exercise doesn’t have to be complicated! 🙌

🍲 Breaking Bread — bringing people together through food and kindness 💙
At Padstow Community Care, Breaking Bread is about more than a meal — it’s about connection, compassion and community.
Through this program, our amazing volunteers prepare meals to share with people who may benefit from a little extra support.
Every meal is made with care, because sometimes a simple act of kindness can make a meaningful difference.
A warm meal, a friendly face and a reminder that our community cares. 💙

BEST BEFORE or USE BY — do you know the difference? 🤔
It might seem like a small detail, but understanding food date labels can help save money and reduce food waste.
A recent SBS News article highlights just how confusing these dates can be.
👉 USE-BY means the food should be eaten by that date for safety. Think highly perishable foods such as fresh meat.
👉 BEST-BEFORE is different. Food may still be safe to eat after this date, although its quality may have changed. Things like pasta, cereal and other shelf-stable foods often carry a best-before date.
The important thing is not to treat every date on every packet as an automatic reason to put food in the bin.
Check the food, consider how it has been stored and, where appropriate, use your senses — but remember that smell and appearance aren't a guarantee of safety for every type of food.
With food prices continuing to rise, knowing what those little dates actually mean could make a difference to your grocery budget — and to how much food ends up in the bin.

Did you know Padstow Community Care once ran the WOW program?
WOW was designed to support people as they took steps towards employment — helping with resume writing, job applications, building confidence and developing the skills needed to enter or return to the workforce.
More than just paperwork, it was about encouragement, guidance and helping people recognise their strengths and opportunities.
While programs evolve over time, our commitment to empowering people and creating pathways forward remains at the heart of what we do. 💙
