🌤️ Road Conditions Update – Please Be Patient 🌤️

While the rain has eased, many unsealed roads across the Mallee remain soft, waterlogged and unstable.

It may take some time for these roads to properly dry out and become safe for travel.

Even if a road surface looks dry on top, it can still be very soft underneath.

🚙 Please continue to:
• Avoid unsealed roads where possible
• Check local road condition updates before travelling
• Drive cautiously and to conditions
• Respect any road closures or signage

We know it can be inconvenient, but protecting our roads (and your safety) now helps prevent long-term damage and costly repairs.

Thanks for your patience, and as always — travel safely 💛

🌧️ Mallee Travel Update – Please Stay Safe 🌧️

Following the recent heavy rain event across the Mallee region, many unsealed roads are now waterlogged, soft and unsafe for travel. What may look passable can quickly become boggy and hazardous.

🚗 Before you head out:
• Avoid unsealed and clay roads where possible
• Check local road condition reports
• Do not drive through floodwater
• Allow extra travel time
• Let someone know your travel plans

Our beautiful Mallee landscapes can change quickly after rain. While the fresh skies and renewed bush are a welcome sight, safety must come first.

If you’re travelling through the region, please plan ahead and drive to conditions.

Stay safe and look after each other 💛

Look for them in small flocks near woodlands, national parks and water sources, especially early morning.

Emu

A classic Australian sight, but they never fail to impress. Emus roam the Mallee in family groups, often with stripey juveniles in tow during breeding season. They love open spaces, saltbush country and roadside verges — safely observed from a distance.
