Ormeau Scout Group

Ormeau Scout Group Ormeau Scout Group delivers real life skills to youth from 5-18 years of age. Ormeau Scout Group has 4 youth member sections.

Scouting also allows adult volunteers to upskill their skills and passions for the betterment of the community. All sections meet during Queensland State School terms. Joey Scouts is for 5 to 8 year old girls and boys. They meet on Wednesday nights from 5:30pm to 6:30pm. Cub Scouts is for 8 to 11 year old girls and boys. They meet on Tuesday nights from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. Scouts is for 11 to 15 yea

r old girls and boys. They meet on Wednesday nights from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Venturers is for 15 to 18 year old females and males. All Scout Groups are operated by adult volunteers. Without these persons, we simply would not exist! If interested in volunteering with our Group, please email us now!

Our Scouts and Ormeau Girl Guides braved the rain to hike up and take part in this morning’s ANZAC Day Service at the Ormeau Pimpama War Memorial Association Inc.. Despite the wet weather it was a moving service that never fails to disappoint - thank you to everyone for making it special.

Massive school holidays for five of our Cub Scouts, Phoenix and Kookaburra that attended QLD Cuboree along with 800+ other Cubs and 400+ adults. Unforgettable memories, new friends, awesome adventures and amazing fun!! BRAVO to all involved.

Cuboree returns in 2029 and will be an unmissable event for our future Cubs! Ormeau's next major event we are aiming for is AJ 2028 - 27th Australian Jamboree in Victoria, along with a host of Group, District, Region and Queensland events along the way!

We held our end of term Jambowlree event at - Lana and the team were amazing hosts for our Joeys, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers, Leaders and parents. BRAVO!

For Jambowlree 2025, Our Venturer/Scout team were 1st, our Venturers were 9th and our Scouts came 21st in their respective divisions worldwide! Our Leaders came in with a respectable 12th and 20th place in the Adult division. 2025 Results can be found here: https://jambowlree.org/index.php/results/2025/

No Scouts in all Sections next week, instead our Leaders will be planning amazing adventures for Term 2. For those Cubs attending , you will have the time of your lives - Kookaburra and Phoenix will see you there!

Great day out on the Gold Coast for Fraser’s Adventurous Journey as part of the Cub Scout Grey Wolf peak award. We completed nearly 15kms along the beach from The Spit to Nobbys Beach.

Fraser was supported by Landon, Tobias, Mang and Phoenix - putting Plan > Do > Review into practice.

Fraser was also showcasing the QLD Cuboree merch, looking forward to that amazing event!

BRAVO to the City of Gold Coast and Councillor Mark Hammel in their support of our grant application to provide a new flagpole. The last stage was installed last week, and we will conduct a formal unveiling event during our Annual Report Presentation in Week 6 of Term 2. Always amazing to live and volunteer on the Gold Coast!!

Thanks again to Scouts Queensland for their support of the grant process and the team from Flagtopia for implementing our vision.

What an amazing day Pimpama - thank you for having us again!! Thank you to all that came to Bunnings Pimpama and bought a sausage made a donation or just said hello! Your help means that we can provide our youth with more experiences, purchase equipment and increase our local community.

BRAVO to all of our volunteers that helped today and the lead up - no Bunnings BBQ would be successful without a team! Shout out to Tip Top Bakeries for providing the bread - not only did it save on the cost, but also the time and effort to purchase loaves of bread.

Thank you to Arshaan Ameer, his family and Michael Crandon MP for coming along to our Scout Section night this week - our Scout's campfire was the perfect setting for Arshaan's reading of his debut novel: The Guardians of the Shift: The Coral Quest.

Scouts Australia are committed to driving lasting sustainability in line with the United Nations Global Goals for Sustainable Development (the SDGs) - allowing our youth to develop into well-rounded, active and thoughtful world citizens.

Arshaan is also conducting a reading at the Queensland Parliament next week and we wish him all the best with his future!

The amazing team @ Grill'd Upper Coomera are once again featuring Ormeau Scout Group on one of their Local Matters jars for the month of February. Head on down to 2 City Centre Drive, Upper Coomera for the best healthy burger fix on the Northern Gold Coast and give your vote to the best Scout Group on the Goldie!!!

All funds provided by Grill'd will be used to fund amazing opportunities for our youth 😃

In 2025 Resilient Youth Australia surveyed Scouts vs non-Scouts nationally to measure the impact of Scouting on young people. Some of their findings are below:
- Scouts are 9% more positive and feel 10% better at coping with life.
- Scouts are 11% more likely to get along with different people.
- Scouts are 10% more likely to feel good about themselves.
- Scouts are 13% more likely to help others.
- Scouts are 20% more likely to deal with problems.
Get your youth into Scouts today to help them become the leaders of tomorrow! Ormeau has youth sections for 5 to 17 year olds.

We also need more adults involved to provide the awesome experiences that provide the memories that our youth will draw on in years to come. Enquire today!
