Hi Ormeau Community!

The City of Gold Coast and the Resilient Building Council are inviting up to 1,000 households to participate in Australia's first online trial of the Resilience Ratings Home Assessment. Gold Coast residents with freestanding homes can complete a free self-guided home assessment and receive a personalised Resilience Ratings Action Plan showing how their home may perform during floods, bushfires, severe storms and tropical cyclones, along with practical recommendations to improve resilience.

For every eligible assessment completed by one of our supporters, the Resilient Building Council will contribute $20.00 to our Group.

How to support this fundraising:

1. Visit https://rbcouncil.org/gold-coast
2. Sign up for your free home assessment.
3. Enter Ormeau Scout Group on sign up, as the community group you support.
4. Complete the assessment to add $20 to our fundraising total. It costs nothing to participate, and every completed assessment helps our Group.

BRAVO to our Group Leader Peter / Phoenix for achieving a Certificate IV in Coordination of Volunteer Programs through the Scouts Australia Institute of Training (SAIT). This qualification was completed through recognition of prior learning (RPL) using his experiences in supporting and leading volunteers through management our amazing Group and in support of major Scouting events. Peter passes his thanks on to his supporters in the Broadwater District Scouts, Scouts - Gold Coast Region and wider Scouting community.

Whilst we take a break over the school holidays, Scouts never sleep! We are back in action Term 4 Week 1 - sign up now and come along for a trial night!

BRAVO to the North Albert Field Archers Inc. for hosting our Group last night - our Joeys, Cubs, Scouts, Venturer and Leaders all got to have a go and had a great time! Amazing way to round off Term 3!

We are back to regular Scouting in Week 1 Term 4.

Thank you to Bunnings Warehouse Australia Pimpama for inviting our Scouts to help out at their annual Father’s Day event last night. Our Scouts helped with crafts, run games and serve popcorn and fairy floss! BRAVO to our Scouts for showing leadership and bringing an uplifting spirit to the occasion!

Big thanks to Ormeau Girl Guides for showing our Scouts how to spin fairy floss and for keeping them on their toes through the night!!

Great catching up with our friends from Rotary Club of Ormeau-Pimpama, awesome work on the BBQ!

Last week we farewelled Simone, also known as Trash Panda, our amazing Scout Section Leader - for nearly six years she has been volunteering to provide amazing opportunities to the Scout Section. BRAVO and we wish you well on your next adventure!

This week our Group held our Linking Night to celebrate youth moving up to a new Section, the investiture of new youth and adults plus special awards. We hold this event once a term and make these special events memorable for our Scouts and their families.

We also welcomed back Dannii and Bridget from the Downer Group who presented World Environment Day badges out in recognition of our Group’s activities in support of sustainable development goals and the environment! BRAVO!

BRAVO to our youth and younger volunteers for always going above and beyond for our community and Scouting! This week is National Youth Volunteering Week - Scouts support this initiative by youth leading and adults supporting.

Fantastic weekend of Scouting at Operation Nighthawk just outside of Clifton. ⚜️

Our Scouts were the first Scout patrol away and first to come back in just after 10pm - certainly broke all of our Group records, we didn’t expect them back until at least 1am!!!

Our two Venturers took part with Palm Beach Scout Group Venturers and also smashed a great time! Reports of lions should be viewed with scepticism 🦁😆

We also we able to help out Palm Beach with lessons in firelighting, thank you for your help and taking care of our Venturers! Don’t drink the water!!! 🤪😆😉

BRAVO to Bella / Shepherd, Jared / Brolga and Peter / Phoenix for making the weekend seamless.
