On Wednesday afternoon, we were honoured to present appreciation certificates to the outstanding students who participated in the 2026 ANZAC Day commemorations at the Orange City Council Chambers, alongside Mayor Tony Mileto. We extend our sincere gratitude to the parents who enthusiastically supported their children.

This year marks 75 years since the establishment of the Royal Australian Army Nursing Corps (RAANC), recognising generations of military nurses who have provided care, compassion and service to Australian personnel in times of war, conflict, peacekeeping and humanitarian operations.

A Star Ceremony will take place on Saturday 27 June 2026 at the Anzac Memorial, Hyde Park, Sydney, to recognise the 75th anniversary.

The ceremony will commence at 10.45am, and all RSL NSW members, veterans and their families, current and former military nurses, and members of the public are invited to attend.

🔗If you'd like to attend the Star Ceremony, please register your interest by completing the online form by Wednesday 17 June 2026 here: https://forms.monday.com/forms/04f0386b60043fffd76a1bfb61e63add?r=use1

The RSL and Schools Remember ANZAC Art Competition 2027 is open for entries!

Primary and secondary school students in NSW are encouraged to create a piece of art inspired by this year’s theme, which is The Power of Mateship.

This theme focuses on one of the most meaningful parts of the ANZAC Spirit - looking out for others, standing together, and showing kindness in difficult times.

Share this post with your family, friends, and the young artists in your life to encourage them to get creative and pay tribute to Australia’s servicemen and women.

The RSL and Schools Remember ANZAC Art Competition is a collaboration between the NSW Department of Education, Catholic Schools NSW, and Independent Schools NSW.

More information about the theme, how the competition works and how to enter can be found here: https://rslnsw.org.au/artcompetition/

In March 1885, a group of 11 men from Orange volunteered for service with the NSW Contingent in Sudan, bringing the total NSW contingent to 750 men. Operating as part of the British brigade, the Australians were involved in several minor conflicts. After the British forces withdrew, the Australians returned home in June 1885. Unfortunately, 9 deaths occurred due to illness and disease, with no losses in combat. These men will be commemorated at a service on Sunday at 11am at Robertson Park's Boer War Memorial, and everyone is welcome to attend.

Lest we forget.
