OCTEC Limited

OCTEC Limited OCTEC operating since 1976, is a successful community business based in Central West NSW. Our services: Our services are wide ranging.

OCTEC operating since 1976, is a successful community business based in Central West NSW and a leader in the important work of empowering disadvantaged members of our communities through education, training and employment services. We also support businesses, large and small, by supplying great staff and getting them trained. Our history: OCTEC started as a two person youth service in Orange (Cent

ral West NSW) back in 1976 and has grown to be an award-winning service provider operating across large parts of NSW. We deliver vocational education and training in aged care, business, civil construction, disability services, health and safety services, hospitality and waste management. We help people with disability to find and maintain employment. We provide businesses with temp staff through our labour hire service. We support youth at risk of disengaging from the education system to stay engaged and get a qualification. And we run Huntley Berry Farm, an Australian Disability Enterprise and tourist attraction just outside Orange. Our success: There is no particular secret to our success. It’s based on a simple philosophy of local people providing high quality services in their local communities, and doing what they say they will do.

Today is World Refugee Day, celebrating the strength and courage of people who have been forced to flee their homes. It falls during Refugee Week, a time we’ve been recognising and honouring refugees for what they bring to our communities.

FoodCare Orange said it’s those who slip through the cracks who’ll benefit the most from a $20,000 donation from OCTEC.
⬆ Their service has seen a 20% increase just this year, now servicing 1,200 patrons.
👪 Sixty per cent of the new customers are working people trying to keep a roof over their head.
“This donation will make a huge impact, allowing us to increase giving away nutritious and healthy food, improving people's nutrition and their health as well as their lives,” FoodCare Orange Coordinator Tim Mordue said.

Olivia's limited employment history made it difficult for her to find a job in a competitive market. She decided to take the leap and focus solely on finding employment working with animals. Olivia joined OCTEC Transition to Work Shellharbour, where Career Consultant Bonnie helped her learn new job-seeking skills and secure a local dog trainer position at Walkys Dog Training Academy. Olivia is now a valued team member and working in a role where she can focus on her passion. 🐶

OCTEC continues to play a vital role in supporting individuals and families supporting community initiatives whilst delivering Employment and Training Services.

Through its partnerships with frontline services, OCTEC sees firsthand the increasing pressures facing the local community, particularly as cost-of-living challenges drive rising demand for assistance.

Please support the OCTEC Director Bruce Hansen as he takes part in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout, representing the organisation to support those who aren’t so fortunate.

Michelle was unemployed for some time due to her mental health struggles. She came to OCTEC Wentworth, Murray Darling, as a mature-aged participant to receive the right support to return to the workforce. OCTEC IEA Consultant Allison helped Michelle build her self-confidence and apply for several housekeeping/guest services positions at local motels and caravan parks. After some setbacks, Michelle secured a guest services role at Wentworth Grande Resort. OCTEC supported Michele with workwear and provided her employer with an OCTEC Biz Support subsidy. Well done Michelle! 👏
