Disability Employment Service participants Morris and Steven have just graduated from OCTEC Training Services with a Certificate III in Business. These graduates showcased their new skills to DES consultant Benita and Sales team members Matthew and Amed will assist in their employment journey.

OCTEC are celebrating Footy Colours Day today, both in the office and working from home!

This is a day we love to support every year, helping raise important funds for kids with cancer keep up their schooling.

Our Training Services team all got involved in Red Nose Day last Friday, with some staff working from home and others in the office.

Over $400 was raised and we are loving the red nose addition to face masks!

OCTEC Training Services was recently very proud to be represented at the 2021 NSW Training Awards held in Dubbo.

Leah Thornberry progressed to the Finalist stage of the Vocational Student of the Year category in the Western NSW Award ceremony held in June.

Leah was a stay at home Mum and faced many challenges along the way. In 2019 and as a mature aged student she completed an OCTEC Career Transition Assistance course which sparked something in Leah who went on to successfully complete her Certificate III in Individual Support Ageing qualification.

Leah very quickly gained full time employment and is now a valued staff member in the Aged Care Industry so much so Leah is now undertaking a Certificate IV in Leisure & Health qualification to further her skills.

Leah’s ongoing dedication to her studies are a credit to her and although she didn’t win on the night she is a winner in our eyes.

Congratulations Leah.

Adrian started in our Career Transition Assistance (CTA) program in early April 2021.

At 58 years old and unemployed since 2016, Adrian moved back to the Central West to look after his sick father and wanted to get back into the workforce. Before the commencement of the course, Adrian had low digital literacy skills and low self-confidence.

Through this course Adrian was able to increase his knowledge and skills of computers, update his resume, apply for jobs online and undertake mock interviews.

"I now have a purpose each day and am so much healthier physically and mentally. I would encourage everyone to do the CTA program with OCTEC".

Our Dual Qualification is back again this year for our Certificate III in Individual Support (ageing, home and community).

This certification will start mid-late June with enrolments closing Wednesday 16 June 2021.

This course is a combination of 3 online classes per week and attending 1 day practical per month in Orange NSW.

Support has been extended for new Apprenticeships and Traineeships!

The Australian Government has extended the Covid-19 economic recovery plan which offers support to Australian businesses to employ new apprentices and trainees.

Employers are eligible for 50% of wages to be covered for these jobs with the apprentice or trainee needing to sign up before 30 September 2021.

**AGED CARE COURSE - ORANGE - ENROLMENTS OPEN**

Are you interested in a career in Aged Care? If so, OCTEC is running a CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) course starting in February 2021.

Aged Care is a growing industry and there are plenty of job opportunities for people with the right credentials. This is a great way to start a new career.

Our training will be delivered face-to-face in the classroom with all the support and resources to assist you with your journey.
