CWA Orange Branch CWA HALL FOR HIRE Available for casual and regular bookings. Community, social and business use. The hall is centrally located in Robertson Park, Orange.

Email enquiries with date, time required, your name and phone number to [email protected]. The Country Women’s Association of NSW, Orange Branch, welcomes new members. We meet at 5pm for a 5.30pm start on the first Thursday of every month at the CWA Hall Robertson Park, corner of Byng St and Lords Place Orange. The CWA is the largest women’s association of Australia. In Orange, we in the CWA want to be known for our value-adding approach to community service, an attractive and well maintained venue and our intelligent, bold and modern take on what it is to be country women in the 21st century. Come along and have a look!

This is what Susanne Griffith, Belinda Grieve, Deborah Marr, Susan Maitland and Colin Marr (who left before the photo) cooked today at Ronald McDonald House Central West. Special thanks to Susan and Colin our honorary branch members. We made Massaman Sweet Potato Curry, One-Pot Beef and Rice Risotto and Sticky Date Pudding with Butterscotch Sauce. We hope other branches will get involved in this useful activity

We need to pass this on particularly to children in the arts. We have had several grants awarded to dancers from Orange and parents have appreciated the cash injection.

We have four education grants for school students and one for a registered nurse to upskill in palliative care. Applications close 30th September.

Jopling Education Grant: Tenable by a child or grandchild of a CWA of NSW member to assist with secondary school education.

Matthew Robinson/Mary and Ella Hall Education Grant: Tenable by a student from the Western Districts area to assist with secondary school or tertiary education

The Irene Ashton Memorial Education Grant: Tenable by a student to assist with secondary or tertiary education.

CWA Griffith War Memorial Hostel Education Grant: Tenable by a student from the CWA Murrumbidgee-Lachlan or Darling River Group areas to assist with secondary school education.

Palliative Care Nurse Education Grant: The grant is tenable by a Registered Nurse seeking to upskill in palliative care.

A good move

CWA of NSW has approved a donation of $55,000 from our International Fund to support communities affected by the devastating floods in Nepal.

This comprises $5,000 to RUWON Nepal, a grassroots organisation with which CWA of NSW has an existing relationship, and $50,000 to the Emergency Action Alliance Nepal Flood Disaster Appeal which brings together established Australian humanitarian organisations and their local partners to provide coordinated emergency and recovery assistance.

Yesterday Orange Branch hosted Zonta members and other women from across Orange to pack birthing kits. A kit contains a sterile plastic sheet, a razor blade, a piece of soap, three pieces of string for tying the umbilical cord and four latex gloves.

These supplies help prevent infection during childbirth, one of the leading causes of maternal mortality globally
