On Friday I spent time at the Canobolas Fire Control Centre catching up with the team there. Even though part of the day was spent tucked away in a back room juggling online meetings, it was still a really good chance to see the work happening and to connect with people face to face.

It was great to see the structural fire training centre that’s being built. The Orange Rural Fire Brigade has been a strong driving force behind this project, and it’s shaping up to be a solid training facility that will support firefighters well into the future.

We also had a laugh about my own connection to the area, with my RFS journey starting at what was then Burnt Yards Rural Fire Brigade (now Panuara RFB) back in the mid-1990s. There may be no record of my membership from those days where record keeping and governance isn’t what it is today in the Service, but the shared history and stories are still very much there.

Thanks to the staff and volunteers at Canobolas and Orange for the welcome and for the work you continue to do to support training and operations across the district.

Hoppy Easter every Bunny from your Orange Rural Fire Brigade.
